Knock spikes are also caused by knackered engine mounts or solid engine mounts. (As they create more engine noise/vibration)
No, you need 2 car licenses if you want to reprogram the Megane AGAIN !
But it already is programmed with a performance .cal, so you dont have to buy 2 licenses. Only if he requires a later .cal update for his Megane.

For every car you need a reprog license, all diagnostic & actuator tests as well as map updates are FREE.
In fact the diagnostic features can save you a lot of money if a problem arises and you are able to fix it your self.
So if you own 1 programmer but need the capability to program 2 cars...
That is with my RON95 map. SAE corrected.
DIN corrected it was 174 @ wheels on that particular day.

One car to the other makes a difference. There are weaker and stronger 197/200 than mine out there.
RR figures are from 1 of the most accurate wheel dynos there is. Why ?
Because it uses 1 big inertia roll of 440 kg/m2 and the simple Newton law of motion formula F=ma. No other fancy software algorithms and tyre crushing too small rollers. Plain & Simple.

Make sure the ECU doesn't show any fault codes as this almost always costs performance !
If any fault codes show up make the necessary repairs first.
