Most Expensive Month
I'm having the most expensive month of Clio ownership ever.
Service is due, so bought the oil and filters for that. Decided to up the brakes at the same time, but wanted to wait for discs, so got pads, fluid and lines. Then got a puncture in one tyre so decided to ditch...
I was just under my car looking at the exhaust and though "that rear shock looks a bit clean?"
Turn out its got a film of grease all the way from the bottom up to just above where the top plastic sleve runs out.
I assume its fubared? Do I need to replace springs as well as shocks, or will...
As above, anyone got any pics?
Thinking of this setup to allow me to use my car on track and have some fun without worrying about tyre costs or breaking the bank with mods.
Cheers
Ive got a Pipercross atm, noticed no difference from the paper one it replaced.
I was thinking this too. If there isnt a good cheap mod I will spend the money elsewhere on things like springs or and ARB or brakes.
Hi
Having found hardly any difference from having a Pipercross panel filter in my 172, and realising that a cleaning kit costs twice as much as a stock paper filter, im looking to just stick a stock filter back in when my cars serviced.
Unless there is a good alternative? I'm looking to...
If CS was a cafe and there was a Menu for modification options, "Ferodo DS2500's on a bed of Brembo HC's with a side of DOT 5.1 fluid" would be the only option under Brakes.
So the advice to "fill it with decent fuel and drive it like you stole it" is better advice? :)
Cheers. Didnt fancy disconnecting the battery as I'd have to find a radio code.
Hi
My car currently does a 75 mile a day commute, so has been fed cheap low RON fuel for 12 months. As of next week it will not be used for a commute and be more of a toy and get fed proper fuel, and I've heard that if I'm going to start feeding it higher RON fuel its worth resetting the ECU...
Do Sportline springs bring down a Ph2 enough to get away with 15s? I'm looking for some 15's for track use, but if I can live with the looks on the road I can loose the 16" all together (and fund a trackday with them :)).
My 172 has a what now?
Seriously, I just though the plastic round thing on the floor under the pedal was broke and was giving way to leave the slight step thing at the bottom of the pedal travel?
Hi all
My car is soon to be retired from 75 miles a day commuting and become my toy, so I will be able to track it. I'm getting it serviced soon and thought I may as well change the brakes for some more suited to track use.
Just putting stock pads on the back, but need recommendations for...
I thought the Sportlines were meant to be a bit poo for track and just all about the look? Have I been missinformed and created a completely wrong opinion? lol.
Secondhand coilovers are a possibility as well.
From Feb I will be starting a new job and getting the train to work, so the Clio will become a toy :)
Im wanting to track it, so will want to mod the suspension a bit, but I also want to put 15" wheels on it as tyres are a lot cheaper. I know the Eiback Pro springs are meant to be good for...
Yeah, just checked the RS website. A lot of the Ph1's are Titanium too... just supports my opinion that the standard 172 got a bit of a raw deal in the RS range (dont get me started on the wheels!)
Best bet to look for a Silver 172 tailgate then.
Many thanks!
Cool, cheers guys. Ill go and have a look when I can be bothered to brave the cold (I got a sun tan on Sunday! Where did that weather go!)
Am I right in thinking the 172 Cup had a bigger spoiler than the standard 172? So if Im uber lucky I should look for one of the rare 172 Cup Silver rear...
I'm not quite sure how I see it. It all looks fairly solid with no bolts? Anyone got any pictures they could label up?
There's pleanty for sale around though
Well ive managed to get the boot open. Liiks like ive just got away with the boot lid itself being bent and dented, the rest of the car including the rear bumper looks fine. It is pushed in enough to need the tailgate replaced though.
Has anyone done it? Looking last nite it doesnt look like...
