You can buy cheap crap off eBay that screws onto the kit lens, then you can look at old Manual focus Russian fish eyes that will probably set you back 100+, then Sigma has some new HSM fish-eyes that will auto focus at 250+ and then the Tokina 10-17mm for 250+, all guestimates, not clued up on...
Because Mega pickles are a marketing tool, sensor size, pixel densities, noise handling and other boring factors affect the image much more, here's a boring read..

What can you get for your two lenses + what you've saved for a new one because I'd personally look into the 18-200 VR if I shot Nikon, won't get you longer but looks like a stella one lens solution and you'll have similar apertures to what you have now.
Thats exactly how it works but the flash won't fire with ETTL and take into account the camera settings, it just fires and you have to enter on the flash how much power you want it to fire.. hope that makes more sense..
No worries, I can see them proving useful in some tricky situations, just remember that you have to fire the flash in Manual but so far its proved to be rather easy to adjust to personally..
Just got some Cactus eBay triggers in the post to fire of my 430EX, a cool piece of kit delivered from Hong Kong for £14, I love cheap gadgets that work!
These allow you to fire nearly any flash (that has Manual options preferably) at quite some distance from the camera, ideal for portrait...
If your willing to take a risk on an official refurb you can grab a bargain at the Canon Outlet, get yourself a body only and you'll have lots of cash left for a nice lens, you won't get one that will do all your criteria amazingly but one that'll do a good job.. of course the 18-55 kit lens...
Plenty but from some brief reading the Sony A300/A350 has a dedicated sensor for this and apparently AF's pretty quickly.

Still, no reason to by a DSLR really.
Look like stitches, CS3 has some amazing software under Photomerge, I'd never ever be able to manually put this together but it managed to correct it all despite all being taken at 10mm.
It's just a shame I'm an idiot and left AWB on :o
Arg tried to track a bee yesterday, they scare me, specially when using extension tubes, seems the MFD of the 17-55 is pretty good then? the bokeh looks great.
Found these guys easier to track :clown:, 0.000001mm DoF FTL :(
Day light the 100-300 F4 would be a great lens but if the lights going to get low and you want to blow out backgrounds more the 70-200 f/2.8 all day & it'll balance great on your D40 :P
Lenses from Kerso, bodys usualy from Jessops when the price is right

Filters & stuff less than 100 usual HK ebay...
a recent picture of the family, taken on my 350D & kit lens.
More glass than skill & my wish list is still longer than what I own :o
10-22
28 f/1.8
85 f/1.8
70-200 F4
hah thanks fubar
Don't want to hi-jack this but yeah that was HDR, this one is very similar and is just 1 image.

Shot tripod mounted using a 2 stop NG grad to maintain the sky. Setting were:
Mode: Manual...
Damn, I no longer live by the sea :(
Can we ignore the exif :clown:
... and mikey trying to make water look like its moving on a moving boat won't be easy :p
Great piece of software.... if you shoot Nikon, no finding the shutter count on any XXXD Canon's unless the user keeps the IMG numbers in order...
Oh and yeah be worth going for the 400D or 30D over the 350D, the AF isn't the best.
Odds are nobody here has used one, its a sub £100 camera so can't say it'll blow anyone away, if your just after a pocket camera for snap shots might do you ok.
