Please don't quote Ken Rockwell lol.
I'm so very confused, is he saying the D60 has a default ISO 100 and the D40 has default 200 or is he saying that the ISO default on the D60 is 200 but its less sensitive and equivalent to 100? wtf. Nothing wrong with having ISO 100, when with one click...
If your shooting natural light that could be a problem but macro and f/1.4 is not the best but of course you can always stop down.. not worth getting filters if the 200 is still going to be better than the 30 + filters..
Ouch, as it stands the 50D is not double the camera of the 40D IMO, minor upgrades with a massive premium attached but have to wait and see for hands on reviews and boring pictures of charts.
I would like the ISO whatever it is though, its a few stops more for sure...
Turn the zoom to 200mm and whats the MFD like vs the prime? Whichever gets you closest or you use more, grab the filters for that.
Generally you'll want to stop down, f/1.4 at macro distances can give insanely small DoF.
Probably a similar release price to the 40D at around £800. I'm hoping the 18-200 IS really does exist. Not sure if it would hit the shelves in the next month though for your trip? Spec looks nice but not a massive jump over the 40D, just seems to be specs to entice people in the stores, 15.1MP...
It's a grad filter used to create balance between a dark sky and a dark foreground, generally used for landscapes to stop the sky blowing out.
Taken with a GradND.

To be honest though, screw on grad filters are bit of a waste of time...
Yup, got it when the rebates were on about 4 months ago for 520, so cheap that even a 50D wouldn't make the price drop! I actually cringe when I use the 350D, it just feels awful and the AF is naff. The picture quality is pretty much the same but the ergonomics, focus ability and control you...
I honestly can't see a 50D coming next week, to many fan boys unhappy that it isn't as good as the D300, which costs double, wait another 6 months.
Oh and EF-S lenses still have the same 35mm format ranges, they are just designed to work better with the 1.6 crop sensors, so 10mm with have a...
Sony has to offer a great/cheap entry level camera as they need to get people into the system. Sadly when you get higher up the food chain you get stung on lens prices.
Whilst I own a 58mm CPL I don't think its graced any of my dA shots :o , I've just been using a P-wide angle holder and a Cokin 2 stop medium grad, any shots that might look like a CPL are probably the result of Tone Mapping or HDR.
I would love to have a nice Lee filter kit though. Although...
You have EXACTLY the same kit I had a year or so ago. Funnily enough the 10-22 was my next purchase.
It is a big jump from 22-70 though if you don't take the kit lens, how much can you afford to re-arrange?!
My ideal travel kit would be..
10-22
24-105 f4L or 24-70 f/2.8
60mm macro
28 f/1.8...
What was the prizes for those? I remember reading White Tiger was a snap shot, although taken with a 5D + 17-40L, saw it yesterday in Jessops being used on all the posters, can't help but think they got a pretty sum but no where near what is would have cost Jessops otherwise!
What the theduckeatspork said, the IQ on all the current DSLR's is very close, even at entry level. Its the user and lenses that make the biggest difference. At your price point you can get either a refurbished 400D or a d40.

Hard to tell but I was hoping someone would have worked it out by now... grrr
At a glance:
6x 1D MKIII = £15000
Oh god the lenses, I should give up now... this is what I can see at a glance... there are far MORE...
Canon Canon EF 1.4x Converter £207.00 x3
Canon Canon EF 2x Converter £192.98...
Whilst still possible a smaller sensor = more DoF. Approx 25% more vs a 1.6cropper. A very boring read:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four_Thirds_System
& Have you seen the price of the 7-14mm? Although I see there is a 9-18mm on pre-order at a slightly less wallet busting £499.00
To the OP...
Olympus - 4/3'rds system, hope you don't want to shoot Ultra Wide or want really shallow depth of field.
Sony - Woah how much is the 70-200 f/2.8 and the 100mm Macro lenses? & for a good chuckle how much is the price difference on the 300 f/2.8 vs Nikon/Canons equivalents with better IS&VR! I...
Up the ISO, enlarge the aperture, up the shutter speed & shoot in Manual.
Ai-Servo or One-Shot? If One-Shot it would explain the OOF shots. Also in the Custom functions see how you cope with using the * on the back to focus, find it very useful for shooting sports.
Thanks, critique is always welcome. Yeah getting large depth of field at such magnification is very very hard, even on a small censored camera like yours.
And I agree composition does need some improvement, just wish I was better at juggling :o
Yeah its a little nasty, can't say any of the subjects are good looking mind haha
Looking over them again am preferring this version of number 1... not sure what people think?
