yup, most of the crap you'll hear spouted on forums are so generalised that they just arent worth taking note of.
Everything in an engine needs to be considered as a system, and wholisitcally, looking at each component on its own is useless.
worst i've had is about 2/3 of a 60ltr tank in 7-10 mins.
dont know the mpg as i wasnt really concerned with it at the time......i did get pretty far thoug ;)
You are bang on there!
I dont think anybody here is fishing for work by any means, personally think aggressive forum selling is vulgar.
And yes, those who help out asmuch as possible on the forums....good people them.....;)
huger kit drops torque because of the very short inlet tract length.
But in essence, all of these kits on a stock engine at very base levels are near enough the same. The old difference being the benefit of individual bodies over paired DCOE types.
Stan is one of the most knowledgeable...
The 1.8 can made decent power, you just need to push the rpm seriously and address the problems with the stock engine.
The power made really depends on the quality of the work and the quality of the setup. Even with all those parts you could run less than stock bhp if its done wrong.
Minimum for rom use is ARP rod bolts with stock rod resized and honed at the same time (you cant just slot in a set of new rod bolts and whizz off), and forged pistons.
As for the Ford components failing, what evidence and who analysed it?
Yes, high torque loads will cause something to fail, but it WONT be the rod bolt if your not running any high RPM. Especially when you bring into the fact that peak torque is never right at the top of the rpm range.
And renault components fall apart because they just arent made that well...
