well i gave it a clean last night with gunk, and it wasn't "that" bad, but was quite a bit of gunk around the butterfly where it seals. will pop it back on this evening, and see if it makes any difference.

lol - ed, i am going to take it off and cleam it today... see if that helps... if not, then i will be trying a new one out. do you need to replace any gaskets etc ed? ta chris.

looks easy enough removing it, but i take it when putting it back on it will need a new gasket?

Following on from previous post; Having had the RAC diagnose my fault as the "throttle position sensor" i ordered a new complete pedal unit from renault. Having fitted the new unit, the readings still showed maximum position at 63% :( as it was with the old unit on... anyway, left the car...

i will have to do it by trial and error i think, and match it to my GPS, but allow for a little "extra" to be on the safe side... ill keep you posted with it. Is there a good guide for dash removal?

I have just had the RAC out this evening, as my car was going into limp home mode, the electrical light came on... turned the car off, and back on again and now the exhaust emission light was on. Rac came out, plugged it in and it said there was an error with the throttle position sensor...

one other thing... when i reset the average speed dial on the trip computer when i am doing say an average 30mph on the speedo, the average speed always comes back 6-7 mph over the speedo, so would that definately mean the needle just needed moving?

steven, its not over reading though - this is normal it is UNDER reading i.e. the speedo is showing me 40 mph when in fact my tom tom is saying 47 mph!

wicked, ill give that a go this weekend then... how easy is it to get to the needle? do i need to crack anything open or does it just seperate with nuts and bolts. thanks, chris.

as you say matt - even if it means buying a second hand 172 cup unit from fleabay or the likes, anything is better than having 450 notes fly out of my pocket... can you honestly just "move the needle?"

interesting point made... it had a new gearbox at around 8,000 miles... so maybe thats the problem.

indeed, but then my TomTom has been in my impreza, 106, and 306 and it has always been lower than the speedo by 4/5mph... not over... also the fact the camera flashed sort of suggests a fault somewhere.
