What extra tools are required for changing a cam belt on a 172?
Should I just take the engine out to make it easier?
Does the VVT mean that the job is more complex?

Check the rear earth point its on the passenger side in the boot behind the interier under the upper seatbelt attchemtn point check its got a good connection.
Then check the rear light cluister for wet connections etc /a broken bulb.
I'd bleed the system check.
I'd have stuck new pads in there at the fornt anyway check them for crackeding etc.
ABS if broken usualy causes it to cut in not not cut in.
Wet weather won't help.
There a few ways roun it common option is to swop all internal and engine side looms for the one form your car.
1.6 use electric racks just like the 1.2 (ok 1.6 is a more owerful rack but its the same system as such and no issue using it with a 1.6 engine realy).

Oil service intervals were ever 6k anyway for the car
If you know anyone who works at vauxhall etc try there oil its dirt cheap and very good just chnage it when it goes dark colour.
The old oil makes the syncrois stuck and stiff. a nd notchy to use.
Only problem with 75/90 gear oil is when cold its a bit thick so have to be abit more gentle as its not that vischious cold when warm its fine.
Yep it was the one supplied with the car from new and was desinged to last for the period of warently + extra wheras copy cat stuff hasn't had the same quality and desing implementation.
Depends what your after realy and you've got on your car for the price its very good only weekness as such is if it goes wrong during uploading your stuck with a broken car and no warently and whilst they seem helpful not much they might be able to do ktec etc would be much more able to help if...
Depends where or what your using the car 5-40 fully synthetic is what I'd use.
Miller or motul is superb but depends what you need it for chnaging it more often with cheaper decinet oil is better for the engine but for track day etc and over 120degree work then you should use a decinet oil...
