Euro car parts do them for around £100. Is your one not moving freely?
Have a look through this thread, mine failed it's mot last week. Tied up the valve and passed fine

Loking at it the second one looks better and mentions full history. Normally find when garages don't mention any history there isn't much. As with any of these cars check the history and make sure the Cambelt has been changed. Further more make sure it's been done by atleast Renault or even...
Had a better look today with someone to help. Brakes did just about hold with the lever moving down. Now I have tied it up seems much better, will take the print out along aswell and hope for the best. Thanks everyone for all the help
Thats what I would do. Like Kyle said cup shocks and cooksport springs will handle better and won't cost the earth, or otherwise buy a decent set of coilovers.
As above I think your body roll is down the cheap coilovers. However don't get me wrong both the rarb and top mounts are great, but mostly help with a more positive turn, than reducing roll
Was working on my car last night and noticed a high pitch noise coming from the engine bay when the ignition is on. Sounds like its coming from the coilpack/inlet manifold area. Car seems to drive fine
Any ideas
Yeah it moves freely, I remember you saying it looked brand new when you serviced the car in December. The rear pads seem to have a lot of material left on them, or wouldnt that matter?
I will take the rears off later to check they arent seized and give the system a bleed.
Fred removed the spring bar when it went in for a service as the previous owner had fitted one.
I meant the black lever part in the picture is in an up position normally and you can pull it down. Which bit should I be tieing up?
Mark, looking at the picture you put up in the other thread think I may not have. There was a lever on the compensator valve that pulled down, take it this was the wrong bit??
I will have to take of the rears and have a look at the pistons.
Right just jacked the car up and putting the brakes on has no affect on the rears. Can spin them easily by hand. Surely this isn't right?
Any ideas what it might be?
Cheers for the input guys. They never said a thing about the belt??? However it did fail, the mot tester was a plank though. Car fail on rear brakes, being a cup. Mot tester tried to point to a fault with the rear brake drum mechanism, to which I liked at him puzzled.
Anyway the two other...
I know this has been covered before so I know that the rear brake performance is low. However the mot station said they were not doing anything, i.e push the brakes and the wheels keep spinning. So I'm guessing this is wrong
Any suggestions?
Right I have check the anchor. It works if you push the release button when you put the belt in. Am I able to leave the belts done up and they would just give them a pull to see if they work?
Sorry for another MOT thread however I have mine last and have a bit of a dilemma. One of my rear seatbelt anchors doesn't work and the one that was promised to arrive yesterday didn't.
Now I was thinking can I take out the rear seats to get round this? As I'm guessing if there are no rear...
I got quote for my old 172 from another specialist to supply a new engine, with new dephaser etc, gearbox, new clutch and fitting and it was less than 1800!
I have my MOT this weekend and one of my rear seat belt anchors does not work. Firstly if I get a secondhand one will my original belt clip in ok?
Secondly as its a cup it doesn't have a middle belt so it is blanked on the anchor. If I get a non blanked one, will the MOT station kick up a fuss...
