Its an overview of the V6 airbox mod, ie 100mm intake version of the ph1 airbox. Might be worth basing it on this ... admitedly i dont know what my 172 cup was totally standard, but it got 148AW (177Fly) with just that & a ktec...
Just thought id put my response in here at Frank sent me a pm about this (ive had a few frenchies/BMW's) - hope he doesnt mind :)
For info ive had 2 x 106 gtis, a 306 rallye, 2 x 328i Sports, a Z3M, a 182 & a Clio 172 Cup - so a decent spread of FWD & RWD lol. I also use the cars on road &...
I've grown out of modding now tbh, no point spending thousands extracting another 20bhp bhp out of clio. I'd rather just buy a quicker car.
I think my old cup had the perfect day to day spec, standard suspension, ktec exhaust & DS2500's. Brilliant car, cheap mods. Next stage would have been...
I bought my cup in Feb 08 on 52k, sold it 11 months later with 77k on it. Nothing went wrong at all in 25k miles. Serviced as per the book (myself) and had the cambelt done at 63k. Enjoyed 11 laps of the ring as well.
Also did 19k in my first 182 in 4 months. Did an oil change after 12k, but...
We got 4.6 secs to 60 & 11.2 to 100 in mine on the GPS. On wanli budget tyres lol. Launching was awful!!
You've got a long way to go yet lad ;) Engine rock is the way forwards, i need to get an M3 again, mine doesnt do it :dapprove:
My 182: http://www.pistonheads.com/members/showcar.asp?carId=40446 Not modified, but cost just under £4k in 4 months (fuel, depreciation & servicing only).
My 172 Cup: http://www.pistonheads.com/members/showcar.asp?carId=75346 Just over £6k on everything in 11 months.
The pistonheads garage...
Well the spoiler decision has been made, someone bought it off me last night ... the money will come in useful for things that im positive about, ie the wheel refurb (that BJV work looks good!) and some lowering based goodness :approve:
I neeeeeeeeeed an M3 now though lol :( What's the name...
Well, with job uncertainty around the corner, in January I tentatively put the cup up for sale. It sold within a few days at a decent price to the 1st chap who contacted me. 10 months & 25k after I bought it … at which point I was carless & had to borrow my bros 1.1 106 …
If you're...
Yeah, stick a picture up, always good to see other e36's!! With regards to price, i paid less than half what he did ;) although mine does have a few more miles on it ...
I love it, done 3k miles in it in the past month, is a fantastic piece of machinery :D
Re: My 182, six months of ownership in words and pics
Never been called a legend before :o
Cars looking great Tom, you'll have to take me for a little spin on Thurs, would love to see what the AST's feel like from a ride perspective .... as they do them for e36 M3 ...
In the pics where you can actually see the car & its colour its looks lovely
Arty farty stuff isnt for me though, all seems a bit pointless when you're trying to show your car off lol. Might as well have left it dirty then made it fuzzy in PS ...
I suggest fitting turinis, ASTs, a stealth exhaust & some colour coded side bullets. Otherwise you wont be in the CS crew & your membership wil be revoked :rasp:
In all seriousness though, its a cup, its great, who cares what it looks like :D
The ones that i find most irritating are as follows:
Cup advertised for £4,295.
Idiot email: Hi mate, would you take £3,250.
Me: No, its up for £4,295, strangely because thats what i want for it.
Idiot: I only have £3,250 CASH, i cant afford anymore, can pick it up tonight though if its a...
Thanks for all the nice comments
It is indeed a 2.8, 193bhp as standard which is enough to push it along fairly well, may invest in a Dave F. bigger throttle body & 325i manifold which would take it to about 220bhp, but that would eat into the M3 fund so im not too sure tbh ...
As...
Umm no lol, tbh its nowhere near as bad now as it was, but after being quoted £300 to correct it properly, i got to grips with the SRP and its 'filling' qualities ;)
Thanks for the kind words people, my aim is to get it close to OEM & mint on the outside, with maybe some slight naughtiness...
Well after a month ive finally got round to cleaning it properly (redundancy does have some perks lol) as im back in Cornwall for the week at my parents house.
Thought id stick a few pics up of my bargain barge ;) wont go into too much detail as that will be covered in the project thread ill...

Same company, always phone before 2pm or you will go through to India. I had the same problem with my 182 as well, in the end i simply called back and said it was a 182, didnt mention cup packs at all - as far as i was aware it was just a 182, as it came out the factory :)
Bugger, sounds like it could have been cheapo for a reason :dapprove:
With regards to not getting any money off, Daniel will probably hate me for this, but no money off = no deal for me lol
Just put the pic in front of the missus as shes been looking for inspiration for hers ... fingers crossed ;) Its only slammed on superleggeras, not exactly difficult or expensive to do tbh ...
Ha ha, love these threads. I've had an M3, ive also had a 182 and a 172 cup. Ummm ...
The M3 would rip either of them a new a55hole tbh. If you can actually drive an M3 properly they are devastatingly fast in the dry anyway lol
My girlfriend took her TT into Audi the other day for a service, went to pay and saw that they had replaced one of the Zenon bulbs at £135. The conversation went like this:
Sarah: Why have you replaced my bulb, theres nothing wrong with it.
Service monkey: ah yes, the filament was wearing and...
Learn how to go round corners properly in your car and you will appreciate it more ;) just out of interest, were you at the ring last July, you could have been one of the bikers getting in my way in the twisties :rasp:
PS. I had a cup, so you probably wont get to experience that in your...
