Well had my second race meeting this weekend at thruxton.
As i have never been there before i was a bit nervous to say the least and with doing some mods to the car setup i was also unsure if i had made it better or ruined it.
The day started of damp but was due to improve as the day went...
with thruxton this weekend and it being a high speed circuit i was wondering if it is worth putting the decat in.the car is standard in the production class so will it really make any difference?
yes production class, 10mm per side. it is just something i was toying with as adding camber and toe to the rear has widend the rear so i thought i would try to even it up by adding some to the front.
hi i have a question about fitting 10mm spacers to the front of my 182 race car.
when the spacers are on and you put the wheel on it is clear of the center spigot. is this ok as the wheel bolts will hold it in position or is it a big no no.
any advice would be helpfull.
cheers rob
hi can anyone help.
my eml keeps coming on, it says front 02 sensor. df0092 and df0967.
does anyone know what these are or is it just a case of fitting a new o2 sensor?
the car seems to run and drive fine just smells a bit fueley from cold.
cheers for any help
rob
if you are just on track then about 2.5 to 3 degrees on the front with a little toe out is a good place to start then do some track time to check the balance/ feel and then you can tinker from there.
whats you local track?
in my experience not much demand as there is alot of them out there, but...
hi there, just rip everthing out you can if it is just a track car. it will improve acceleration/braking and corner speed as you have less weight to move.
you may need to make small adjustments the more you do and the more track time you do to suit your own driving style.
how much front camber...
yep the rc8s are epic, tried both ds2500 and the 3000 but werent up to the job really.
tried the rc5s aswell and found them ok in the wet but went off too quick in the dry.
anyway if you managed to get 4 trackdays out of the ds2500 then maybe the rc6 could be a good shout (my ds2500 did 21/2...
thought i would add my 2 peneth as i have just started racing in the tricolore trophy this year in a 182.
if you are doing trackdays already then its not that bigger step.
a rough calculation on cost: car cat d £900
roll cage £800
seat £100
harness £100
fire extinguisher £100
transponder £200...
they are fantastic a bit like hitting a brick wall. i have tried the ds2500 which were ok but did fade a bit after a good run and only lasted 2 1/2 track days. the ds3000 didnt fade but only lasted 1 track day and didnt give a good feel.
the rc8 were great. very predictable good feel
cheers.Budget is an understatement lol. to be fair i have only run the apex springs and not even driven it with the standards so i have nothing else to compare them to.
just as a matter of interest what ones are reccomended?
your very kind dan, but as said to be fast you dont need to spend lots.
try playing around with your front camber and toe, also your rear toe to give better turn in.just do a 1 thing and a little at a time to find out what suits you.
but on the flip side if you have money to burn you could buy...
hi people i am just filling my first form for race entry in the french trophy but i am stuck.
it is asking for "ASN" but i have no idea what that is, can anyone help.
cheers rob
if funds allow i would like to come to get some practice in but if not and i can convince the wife then we may just come allong for the crack and to meet some of the others and to check out the cars to make sure ive done mine right.
viva la france
i am going in the french trophy. standard cars with basic mods such as polybushes/ better pads
i think in total its cost about 4 grand for everthing up to first race.
