I've bought Lemforder balljoints before from ECP for my 172. Need to watch out though that they are in the right box, I once got 10mm versions in a 12mm box so make sure you have the right ones before leaving the shop.
Thanks. The strut is coming off in this case as a broken spring needs replacing. I might take it all away then with the wishbone attached as suggested as separate it off the car.
Track driving and learn how to get the best from it is the best option in my view (getting gear changes right to keep it at the right engine speed). I wouldn't bother changing anything again on my Clio as they are great just as they are. You can spend a couple of thousand on a supercharger/turbo...
I only put the engine back in last month and now a synchro has gone so I plan to put my spare gearbox on. Also a front spring has just snapped so both struts are going to be removed to fix this. So I fancy changing the gearbox with the engine in place but haven't done it before and there's no...
I think there is a 16v Clio forum that might cover what you're trying to do. I bought parts for my 172 Phase 1 from a chap who'd changed the engine in his 1.8 16v Mk1 to a 172 engine. The manifold (called a plenum) had been cut and I think to make it fit. Sounds like a good project.
I used a company in Walsall, JD Trimming and it was brilliant - they matched the blue alcantara with leather perfectly and it's been fine for about five years with daily use.
It's going to feel different to a turbo diesel, with little low down shove and some buyers never get over this - describing the RS Clio as underwhelming. Just learn how to drive it to get the best from it. Good choice as it's a proper Cliosport (Cup).
I'd be very tempted if it was £4k and there was further information on the state of the body, especially underneath. For £6k and with some niggles left to fix forget it.
The problem will still come back because it's 14 years old and worn. I've had about four or five TBs, stripped, cleaned, lots of different oils for lubing etc and they always go the same way after a short time. Just buy a new one.
It's a gamble, it always will be. Go for a drive if the owner will let you and see how it feels - trust your instincts (both of the owners who I visited when I was trying Subarus let me drive on my own). I hope it works out OK.
They don't all break. You can scare yourself researching any car because people will post comments about the bad side (and other users then repeat the stories). Apparently my Ph1 172 has a very poor build quality, but in truth it's actually much better than my Subaru Impreza.
You got some poor advice I'm afraid. It might be easier to find an inlet/plenum for it than a replacement breather. I'd try one of the breakers first and see what they have available. A matched inlet/plenum combination might be easier to source though.
It's under the scuttle panel (that's the black plastic panel under the windscreen held on by two clips). Pull it off gently (fnah fnah!!) on the driver's side, disconnect the wiring, remove the blower motor and hey presto, there it all is!
Fred at BTM was happy to show me how to do it. Problem is I'm not sure I wrote it all down right - doh! I have the pdf, if you want it as a guide just PM me.
You need to know why that belt fell off, they don't do that normally. I lost a belt because one of the nuts on the timing belt cover wasn't tightened, it came off and caused the aux belt to come off (I was also lucky too that it didn't damage the timing belt/engine). You can fit a new aux belt...
Sainsbury's Super unleaded petrol varies in its RON between 97 and 99 depending on the supplier. All super unleaded RON changes downwards depending on how long it has been since production and the time it has sat in the underground tank at the petrol station. Whatever the price, it's still a big...
Just after confirmation please that all 172 and 182 bonnets were the same and are interchangeable? I've sheared all four bolts off mine and in the process of fitting the thread repairs I have almost gone through it (and I was being really careful!).
