Mine has some rust starting to show at the bottom of the rear arch just on one side so needs sorting. I came across one that was being broken for spares due to rusted sills.
1500 if it's in pretty good condition IMO. But I wouldn't be taking it anywhere near Renault, family connection or otherwise - take it to a specialist and leave Renault to their basic models, again it's my opinion (and ten year's experience).

Hum, I missed this and Lord knows how? I'm OK for now but next time I'll investigate this option.
Same. I've spent two years looking and a replacement just arrived today - I bought one from someone on here who was selling them in the For Sale section.
At least that back bumper hasn't been cut for the dodgy exhaust by the looks of it.
Dan certainly knows what he is talking about. He's been working on Clios professionally for many years and now runs his own business. Although I prefer to take the engine out to change the clutch and gearbox...
The 17mm nut is again just, tight. These two are the few things I don't ever torque up. But someone may tell you what it should be, I can't access dialogys at the moment.
It's the long hose that goes to the front of the engine close to the water pump and I think it only comes as a set. Somewhere like Forge and SFS sell theirs in pieces with joiners but not sure if they sell the hoses separately or as a set. A lot of people buy Samco hoses when the original ones...
Kinda related - the air pipe at the back on the inlet manifold to the brakes was only partly pushed on, on mine. After pushing it on fully and twisting it round my brakes felt a little stronger. Perhaps the pipe has a split?
Just search on Ebay using the part number, there are plenty of German options. Like this one (a bit more dosh but still less than the UK dealers) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Eibach-Sportline-Federn-Renault-CLIO-II-BB0-1-2-CB0-1-2-45-50-30-E20-75-001-03-/381165239622?pt=DE_Autoteile&hash=item58bf37fd46
It's difficult to torque that top mount as the spring will move with little force. I hold it steady with a T30 and use a swan neck spanner - just tight enough, nothing much.
Check out the guides section - see Fubar guides for changing a spring as it shows you the order to put the top mount all back together. Either the part was wrong or you have done it wrong, at least you can check if you have done it wrong by following the guide. Also, you should have done both...
I can only hear the exhaust and it looks quite corroded so will need replacing. If you're in Malta then there's no need for a cat as no one really bothers, but in most other places in the EU you are going to need one. Do you know if it was properly maintained before you bought it, have the belts...
Hells Bells this doesn't stack up! You say that you're clueless, but you have done a complicated compression and draw down test. As far as I can tell you've got a small coolant leak and a perhaps a broken cat so go and get the emissions tested at a garage. How exactly can an engine sound rusty...
What a difference they make to my Ph1. It feels really good, well impressed. They have replaced some 182 Cup springs that I've had on for a few years until one snapped a couple of weeks ago. Good price direct from Germany £105 delivered and they came a day earlier than promised, that's efficiency.
Oh, I'm not sure. I was always trained that no torque wrench means you don't do the job. You can buy one from Halfords (their Advanced range are pretty good) and with one of their trader cards (it's easy to get one of these) I think I paid about £40 for the high torque one and a bit less for the...
To be fair, the first time I did this I had only one side jacked up supported on an axle stand. It took me nine hours of fighting the force of the anti roll bar to get the two bolts in and my arms were pumped! I should of done my research - see the Fubar series of guides in the Guides section...
Mine Ph1 172 has knocked for nine year's, since it was four years old always when moving off (more of a sort of dull noise than a knock). I've lubricated all the parts that could do it, replaced all the suspension and mounts, and I've taken the engine out three times (not to just try and find...

I hope you can take the part back you bought. I always check the advice from Renault Wolverhampton first before I buy anything, Adam's usually right.
I wanted a 172 Cup two year's ago. I looked at five, traveled 200 mile round trips at least twice and spent 3 months on the search. I only went to view so called great and unmolested examples, they were all dogs so in the end I bought an Impreza. It might take you longer than you imagine to find...
