DS2500 pads do squeal when the weather's been dry for a time. Biggest difference is that the ABS kicks in far more often - shows the pads are working I reckon!
I trust my brakes now more than before. Although I'm not sure if there is something even better out there, suspecting there probably...
Yes, I know Lee, but not sure who Steve is.
I'm based at the EA's Exeter office but spend lots of time away mainly in Bristol at HQ.
I was hoping to have a manifold, but I am beginning to suspect I might have been taken for a ride after parting with my money. Worse still it is somebody...
It's from Autocar and dated 13th July 2000. I have it as a one pager - there's not much on it and the highlights were:
''Clio 172...decelerated from 100mph to 0mph in 3.99 seconds - beating cars including Ferrari 360 Modena...Caterham Superlight R500 and Porsche 911 Turbo''.
''Light...
Sorry to hear that M8, so it might be a duff cable. Have you got the receipt, it might give you a clue - it might quote the part number they used.

Glad it's fixed. I'd like to see how the matched inlet feels, if mine ever arrives I'm planning the same thing. I'm on Sowton, Exeter - so just down the road.

Has anyone fitted an accelerator cable on a phase 1, 172 (without the use of a car lift). When I looked it wasn't clear how it is routed from the throttle to the pedal. How straightforward are they to do?
Cheers, Rob669
Evoo, I agree that that mod does feel slightly different. I've got the DS2500 pads to boot and again it changes the way that my brakes feel. It has taken some getting used to but I like it now.

That doesn't look right in the photo. Why is there a nut on the top, the rubber doughnut thing contains the nut I thought.

Hi sorry to bring this up again, but could someone please rest my mind.
Is this how it looks after fitting, as this is exactly how mine looks and I did not...
Re: Fitting spings...
Fitted Eibachs to the fronts only on my 172 on Saturday. Quick job, honestly - it took me 11 hours!!!!
Two people, working together and with fair knowledge of what's involved and the right tools, I'd say 1.5 hours on each side.

I'd look in Yellow Pages first and try and find an independent Renault specialist. I know of one in Bristol, based in Bedminster and they were pretty good about five years ago. In Devon many of us use Carlton Garage in Exmouth and it would only cost you £20 in fuel to get there.

Welcome to CS.
You have a ClioII phase 2. The modifications sound right, it's about getting more air through the engine so you might want to also consider a de cat. Don't forget brakes as well, upgrade to better pads and stainless steel lines. But the standard car is pretty good to begin...
I got mine from what I thought would be the most expensive place. It's opposite Renault in Exeter, a tyre and exhaust place. They sell expensive wheel and tyre packages and do fancy wheel alignment type stuff. I was there finding out the price for PE2s and just happened to ask about batteries...
Rallyes, either in 106 or 306 (even in 205) versions would be great to see at Smeatharpe. Good to compare them with our Clio's.
I'm a bit concerned about being spied on though. I was thinking of finding out what they were doing. It might not be us, it might be something to do with how many...
I think I remember reading last night on Dialogys that it takes either 15 mins or 30 mins to fit a new cable. However, the clutch cable itself (for a 172 at least) is about £45 to buy. Whatever you do, do not fit a non-Renault clutch cable. It will not work! So £35 sounds too cheap to me. £60-70...
Mark, thanks. You realise though that you're giving away your secrets!
Just need a video from Paul.
Frankly, the airfield rocks! It's a dirty and mossy surface in some places, but cleaner in others and it gives you a good excuse to clean the car afterwards.
