The money would be better spent on learning to drive the car - on a track and initially with a race training instructor. I think any power increases from the mods you listed are limited, frankly. That's my view and I wouldn't bother with any of the mods you've listed (although an exhaust might...
Anyone's on here? It's badged as a cup, has Piston Heads and GDI stickers on the sides. Parked at Government Buildings, Westbury, Bristol.

Weight wise, you go shopping to the supermarket in the ever so slightly lighter car and it's the same weight again. IMO, there's no real world difference between any of them, including 182 and the old valvers.
I always thought you needed at least 10% of extra power to feel any difference. So...
Is it a genuine Renualt cable, if no then that's the problem. I've fitted non Renault cables before (bought from Halfords) and when the engine heats up they don't work properly.

I have a Yozzasport sticker on my back window and the Cliosport sticker on the side window. So it might have been me. YS sticker was added when the brakehoses were replaced with some stainless steel versions.

A bit of mechanical knowledge and being prepared to get your hands dirty on occasion also helps to keep a 172 running properly. But for me that's what owning a car like this is all about.
My 172 has been much better in terms of mechanical reliability than my earlier model 1.8. Not a bad car...
Apparently it's a common problem. I've had it twice now (fnar fnar).
The first time it was sorted out by replacing the accelerator cable with a new one (costs about £35, fitted). If your cables old I suggest you do that first.
The problem came back for me after I fitted a modified plenum...
YOU DON'T HAVE TO CUT OFF OR SOLDER ANYTHING. It is so simple to fix this problem. Use the search button - it's been documented on here many times already.

Mine squeeks and will be replaced in the next day or two. Should only be a few quid to get it fitted, the book time is 30 mins to fit it I think. The new part costs about £15. To replace it yourself you need to find exactly how it runs from the engine bay to the pedal inside the car. I think it...
Edde and to others, I was told about a much simpler fix. I fitted an electrical tie lengthways over the connector. It worked fine for me and I've never had the problem again.
Trong makes really terrible coffee. He's good company though while you're waiting. Oh, and he wields a mean ratchet and so when can I get my top section that got cross threaded, sometime soon pleeeeease?
Cheers, Rob669
Ben, I'm looking forward to receiving from you my modded top section (the plenum that was cross threaded the other day).
I've had the inlet manifold mod fitted and the power delivery has changed compared to before. I'd say it's smoother not faster. Perhaps when the top part has been fitted and...
It's only easy with the right tools and some knowledge. Took me flippin ages (even with the right tools) the first time I tried it. Relatively cheap to have them fitted at a garage. The setting-up bit is a different matter.
Cheers, Rob669
Chris,
I've cured it on my 172 by following someone's advice to use electrical cable ties. Fit them to each connector lengthways to make everything more rigid. You will need long and thin type cable ties. I bought mine from B&Q.
