Banks Lies. I didn't expect the car to be anything like that and used seven different swear words during the race. Colvey looked like he'd just seen a talking horse.

    Toastfrenzy's Tin Top, some say...........

I wondered what happened in that first stint....now we can see on the data overlay that you had a minor detour! We managed to record the whole race front and rear, so hopefully will have a few shots of you guys in there too.

Thanks a lot guys, really chuffed with the result. Hopefully get the video edited and write a race report in the next few days. I think we would all agree that we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, perhaps could've been a teeny bit more organised in terms of getting to driver sign, scrutineering...

The car is ready, just need to pick up the tow car and get it up north. We're only gonna be 20 mins down the road tonight at Ryan's place so we should be able to get there in good time in the morning ready for a great day. The aim for the day.....finish the race, simple. Excited!

August 31st 2012: And so, it was time to test the car again! We were off to Castle Combe circuit this time with the intention of validating the chassis changes we had made along with some final driver style prep in time for the Donington race. We had a very eventful night the day before and we...

More of a tactical "cut it up, weld it back together, realize it doesn't go into fourth, repeat."

I don't think that was the problem. The pedal was getting progressively lower until we fitted new pads. Like a drum brake which is missing the self adjuster. Not a huge problem just not so nice to drive when the pedal gets closer to the bulk head. I might keep a lookout for a cup master cylinder...

pads wore pretty evenly. I'm not sure if we kept them or not but the outer ones had about a mm left and the inner ones a bit less. None of them were significantly wedge shaped although there was probably half a millimeter difference between the thickness of the inside and outside of a couple of...

Hi Everyone. Rob here again. We had a fairly successful test day yesterday apart from a small engine bay fire. I expect Dave will put up a full update pretty soon. We were using the old springs as the new ones still haven't arrived. Ryan said he noticed a bit of bump steer and I found it went a...

Well, we look at the bump steer implications and we reckon it will be pretty close to standard now that we've moved the wishbones. If we find we have a bit of bump steer, we'll try and lower the attachment point of the arm on to the upright somehow. The plan is to do donington....so hopefully...

August 21st 2012: After our last outing at Blyton Park we had a little debrief session and discussed how we felt (individual subjective analysis) the car behaved in all areas. The main area of discussion focused around our distinct lack of front end grip. Rob being the Vehicle dynamics expert...

Chase Racing Clio Build Blog (TinTops Entry)

Well.... here's what we did: The master cylinder has 2 outputs, we used one for the front circuit and one for the rear. The front circuit uses a T piece to split and then we've just made up some lines to go the shortest, coldest route to the separate corners. The rear circuit goes through the...

    Driveshaft refurb??

Does anyone know of any company that will be able to refurb driveshafts or give you a new one in exchange for a slightly busted one to save a bit of money? I've managed to find a driver's side driveshaft new for 55 quid... but I've now got 2 driver's side ones and 1 passenger side one with split...

August 2nd 2012: All change please, all change. As you may have read from the last update, I (Dave) have had to vacate my previous property where the car was being kept. The original plan was to keep the car at Ryan’s place, but I had an offer from a colleague at work to hire out his garage...

(dave here now) Yeh, we used that kit as a model for what we have done to our rear beam. That along with the cross brace in the back is hopefully helping us maintaining a decent amount of body stiffness, hence why we think we're being limited by the stiffness of the springs now.

It’s really useful information Ash. Anything we can learn from someone who has already tried things should stop us heading down dead end routes. I’m hoping to do two things with the new springs. Increase the overall stiffness which will limit the steady state (constant acceleration (force))...

Chase Racing Clio Build Blog (TinTops Entry)

Thanks for the advice Ash. I accounted for the spring being a bit further forward than the wheel centre with a motion ratio of 1.4. I haven’t accounted for the geometry at the front largely because I haven’t measured it yet. It should be a lot less significant though. We are getting a...

How do you properly reset the ECU?

Any advise on the best way to diagnose the road car problems then? Which relays are the crucial ones?

How do you properly reset the ECU?

Well, both my road car and the race car keep deciding they don't want to start. If we swap the ECU's over it seems to trick it into starting, but then once we turn it off again, there's no guarantee it will start again. On my road car, I've got the original set in and nothing has changed...

Disconnecting the battery clearly doesn't do this. Anyone care to tell me the full procedure for doing a hard reset of the ECU?

Hi everyone, This is Rob Chase of Chase racing. I’ve been trying to do some research and not come up with any answers on the internet. I was wondering if anyone can give us some advice on the following points. We want some stiffer springs. We got a set of barely used Gaz gold coilovers which...

Dreaded Red Immobiliser dash light flashin and solid

This is literally THE single most annoying car problem I have ever had. My symptoms are similar to everyone else's..... go to start the car, most times get the flashing red light, sometimes get the solid light that doesn't go out. Then, very rarely it goes out and I can start the car. With...

July 11th 2012: If only we could get paid more and work less hours! Since the last trip up to Blyton Park, we have done a few modifications to the car and particularly the trailer. The trailer did reasonably well on it’s maiden voyage, but it did need a lick of paint. In hindsight, buying a...

Not at all Tony....struggling to find time to do updates, hopefully do one this evening. In short, we've been testing again last week and all went well, but we've also had to re-locate the car and kit to Ryan's place because I'm moving house. Not enough time in the day lately
