recommendations on shift lights please. Either a traditional system feeding of the tacho on the ECU, or I have heard about systems that just plug into your 12v socket and sense pulses off the alternator. You then need to calibrate them against actual rpm. Ideally I need something with 3 LEDs...
the temp gauge in the middle means nothing. Its only the water temp. You will need a lot longer (5-10km) for the engine and gearbox to warm up properly
run it in properly. first 700 miles to 3500 rpm through the gears mway and b-roads avoid loading the engine (low revs high gears), then 4-4500 rpm to 1000miles then you can gradually open up. Give it 5-10km to warm up before loading etc. It will make a big difference!
This was measured at Millway racing near Andover before the cams. Im about to have the car remapped over the next 10 days after the cams at another unichip dealer (probably crawley) so I will confirm again the exact result. In any event you can very easily feel the difference as the car pulls...
£1.5k? ouch. I can pay for a few mapping sessions with that. Ok maybe I need to tell you why I wanted to do this in the first place and maybe theres another solution. I want to map the car (unichip) in order to safely avoid any knocking/det, but at the same time I dont want to go too...
I am using a unichip. Before the cams, with head/manifold work power was 193bhp and torque 190lb/ft. I havent had it remapped since fitting the cams as we had to work on mechanical problems. I will be doing this in a couple of weeks.
The most noticeable improvement is a massive increase in...
Hi Neil, Im afraid its a negative to most of your questions. I have no idea what you will get from exhaust and decat (my car still has theoriginal cat for now). I live in London. The car will never find itself on a strip (as long as I own it). However you can find it regularly on the track, but...
A question for the techs. Do you know where I can get a wideband lambda sensor fitted to replace the standard unit on my car. I also want to connect the lambda sensor to my ECU or unichip for it to adjust the fuelling in real time depending on load, air temp etc.
Who can do this for me, where...
Re your V6, now youve had it for a while, how does it feel? Do you have an idea where the extra 400Kg has gone. I cant believe the V6 engine itself weighs so much extra. Any clues on how it might be lightened etc?
I got mine for about 160 or so from passion motorsport. If its a Mk2 make sure you get the specific SP08 BMC for it not the standard one. Youll also need some proper 70mm ducting as the stuff provided by BMC is crap.
while youre at it, you should port/flow the head and manifold too. ps, I can proudly say I was the original donor for 172 cams to Piper. Warren did a great job on mine and Im very happy with the results.
well, having done most of the stuff on your list, I cant argue with the fact it does increase the performance. the point Im making though is that for 99% of road use, the increase in performance from doing these mods is a waste of time, because you can hardly explore the limits of the standard...
Do absolutely nothing. The cup is just fine as it is. Any small mods are a complete waste of money and will devalue your car. If you want to + need to + can afford spending serious cash, there are a number of mods you can consider ranging from suspension (probably the most important but you...
