TBH even for the soft clays I am still very cautious about using them, and normally only clay before polishing just to be on the safe side.
If you are getting your car PCd for example, you would probably get a claying include as part of the detail.
No problemo.
I would highly recommend claying your car if you are looking to fully detail your exterior, it is an essential stage on most if not all cars I would say, assuming its not been done before as I'm assuming? Even a very mild clay will improve the finish a lot, e.g. making it better...
I hope so, at £13 a pop (and not a huge bottle) hoping for good things. Its apparently extra viscous and is especially suited for making a clay solution with.
Will let you know how I get on with it mate.
Alternative is to get a new HU with a digital connection. This is better IMO as you can read the song names and artists etc on the LCD screen, as obviously the standard audio system doesn't have one.
I have a Sony one, and the cable comes through the glovebox for the iPod. Definitely a...
Its a good technique especially on darker cars and ESPECIALLY in the hotter weather (all 2 weeks of it...) as said adds extra lubrication and avoids water spots when water evaporates.
Get with the program Ali ;) joke
Not used the Megs myself, Rich used to use it though so can't imagine it being bad lol...Collinites is perfect for a gloss look but on darker metallic cars mutes the flake a little, what colour is yours mate?
Either way though you will be happy. The Collinites is virtually bomb proof!
Autosol then you can treat it like normal paint, SRP, sealant and/or wax if you want.
Worth doing as it makes it a LOT easier to clean in the future, nothing worse than a dirty black zorst pipe on display to ruin a nicely detailed car.
If I was to buy one at this time of year I would go for the Megs or Collinites as they are more durable, the XXX would be better for the summer when protection isn't as important.
I have been using Chemical Guys Extreme Wash N Wax for the past year which I have been very impressed with but recently switched to Victoria's shampoo which is even better, the other day I didn't even dry the car as it began pissing down, but a quick spin up the road and it looks almost as good...
I reckon with a decent hard wax you would be ok really, the wax seems to make more difference after washing in my opinion, sealants tend to look washed out unless they are topped with wax too.
Yeah Clean Your Car is always brilliant, and the service and delivery is first rate.
Think the loyalty scheme isn't as good as the discount scheme though, works out to a 5% discount to be redeemed later rather than the instant 10% saving we used to get.
Mate sorry but thats just wrong. It brings a lot more depth to the paint on darker colour cars than Collinites, which really mutes the flake of the paint.
No its not THE best wax, but it costs like £11...and lol at splitting the delivery cost! I'm a student and even I don't watch the pennies...
XXX is a great wax IMO, I don't use it that often these days as I have better ones now, but for the money you will be VERY pleased with it looks wise, but in the durability stakes its not great so if you use it in the winter you should layer it over a more durable wax like the Collinites or Megs...
As my first stage of my mid-season detail I did the interior yesterday, got it looking better than new again, not bad for a car pushing 36k.
However, today was ordered by my mum to take my sister and 2 mates into town. They are fit (not including my sister!!) and was bored revising so thought...
The Megs Stage 3 Caranuba wax is ok if you are desperate, looks pretty good but lasts about a day...
What happened to Tez though, why is he banned!??
Also Ali where did you get the Jet Seal from as everywhere seems either sold out or doesn't stock it?
Body Blitz is my favourite sealant to use...
Sony here, in conjunction with upgraded speakers I have been very very happy with the performance.
TBH the acoustics in the Clio are terrible, anything too loud vibrates all the cheap plastics so I would go for something delivering the best medium/loud sound quality rather than max watt...
Polish anc seal the glass, will make s**t slide off better.
Clean/ change your windscreen wipers.
Change your windscreen wash, there are specific washes designed for winter.
Easy as Linsay Dawn Mackenzie on heat...
I am getting a new nano for Christmas, but think I am going to have get a Touch now too at some point. Probably when the 32GB version is out. They are a little sexual...OR the iPhone I guess. You can unlock them for Orange can't you?
Cool cheers lads, I don't think he managed to do it in time for today but I'll try doing it for him tonight. Its on O2 I think if you know if there are updates on that network, never debranded a phone before - although quite tempted as I'm on Orange but hate their software.
Any ideas?
I have a few, but my attempts to get 100% rid seemed to induce some slightly finer ones. You can barely see them but they are there, decided to leave it there as it was barely unoiceable. As Rich says though this plastic seems to be VERY soft.
The product itself is orange, I would imagine they haven't been stained at all, rather he hasn't wiped it all off properly.
Having said that, even though the CG Wheel Guard is great as an all in one product, polishing then layering with sealant and/or wax is better.
I like it, all I would like to see is a larger rear spoiler, and think paying extra for white is a bit of a con seeing as its a matt colour (I am presuming?) - on cars like the Golf GTi the Candy White is cheaper than the metallics.
Sure you will love it though, and can always fit a different...
