Needs at least four seats. 500 Abarth would be lovely, but over budget - they start at around £10k.
Are you trying to talk me (her) out of a Clio? :smile:
I don't know, really.
My condition of boosting her budget was that it'd be a car I could use (read: want to use) over the harshest periods of the winter, so I can leave the M3 parked up.
I can't think of much else that appeals as much as the Clio, and ironically, the Clio 200 is one of the...
Not so much interest in funding the Cambelt, but that's certainly of interest if it makes the car cheaper. Is £600 achievable in exchange for a standard one?
We're actually trying to avoid the Recaros - they seem to wear badly and I had them in my Corsa VXR years ago, I recall them not being...
So I went and looked at this today;
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201510218027818?sort=default&page=1&model=clio&engine-size-cars=2l_to_2-5l&onesearchad=used,nearlynew,new&make=renault&search-target=usedcars&radius=50&postcode=po305aa&maximum-age=up_to_6_years_old&logcode=p

I'm off to look at a Clio 200 shortly, is there anything in particular I should look out for.
I understand there's a common gearbox issue. Am I right in thinking it's usually a synchro issue into 3rd? Is a particularly notchy change an indication of future failure, or can they carry on forever...
Went to look at a Clio 197 for the other half today.
Overall it seemed pretty tidy - high number of owners but it seems to have been serviced at main dealers it's whole life, including the cambelt 2 years, 7k miles ago.
There were two issues that bugged me, though.
1. The exhaust seemed to...
As Fuzzy said.
Insurance excess on the ring rentals is something like 2500EUR at a minimum isn't it?
That's probably more than your Clio would cost to replace, surely?
I say take the Clio.
I see a lot of people say they are a little bit too grown up and boring compared to the Clio.
I genuinely feel like this handles better than my Clio on ASTs. I've never instantly gelled with a car like I have with this R26, it's always taken me a few days/weeks/months to really figure out how...
I'm struggling to justify £130 +paint for an R spoiler when I so desperately want to get it on track.
I'm looking at a Spa two dayer, so maybe after than :)
So I picked this up last week;
Spec according to the previous owner;
* RS Tuning Stage 2 Map - 274bhp 310 lb/ft
* Larger uprated injectors (630cc)
* K-Tec 3" Sport Exhaust System
* Miltek De-Cat
*Samco Silicone Hoses
* Forge re-circ valve
* Forge actuator
* Forge uprated front mount...
I did the belts myself with genuine belts and dephaser. No I didn't use the correct tool, but yes it times up perfectly afterwards ;)
Its come up on conversation with four different Indy mechanics now and they all asked if it was a pain, whether I used genuine stuff and triple checked timing...
AST Sportline 1s
Wheels are ~ET47 TD Prorace 1s with 195/50/15 R888s
20mm spacers on the front and 5mm spacers on the rear - the spacers are there for clearance rather than aesthetics though, as the low offset of the wheels caused issues (I didn't check offset when buying them!).
-3 degrees...
I have been around the block with cameras, a 400D, 550D before deciding I didn't need an SLR and buying a Sony NEX-3 and a Sigma 30mm f/2.8.
I gave in and bought a cheap 650D and 17-55 before getting the usual full frame urge - it just so happened I could afford a 6d with 24-105 at the time...
Nope - to be fair, the clutch gets very little abuse now the car isn't used on the road.
If it fails further down the road then I won't be devastated about pulling the box off again.
The car has been sat around a lot for the last year, I guess I should just attribute it to a combination of that and perhaps the clutch being done just before I bought it.
That's the thing, the first isn't a brand new clutch.
That was the view that greeted me after removing the box.
I'd owned the car for around 6 months at this time.
Just touching on the subject again
I noticed the new gearbox has sealant between the box and bell housing where as the old did not.
Is this a sign that perhaps its been rebuilt/refurbed?
Now, I wouldn't normally worry about rust on a car, if it wasn't for the fact there wasn't any the last time I looked.
Here it is 2 years / 20k miles ago.
Here it is today
I'm just curious if it's something I ought to be worried (water/crap getting in there?) about or perhaps the clutch...
