Very true, mine never had cams but I enjoyed the difference a Pugsport, decat and four branch mani made. The mods really do bring them alive.
I actually enjoyed thrashing it more than I do my Clio, I find them more rewarding when you do so, but the rest of the time the Clio is better.
Enjoy...
What makes you say that Daniel?
I can kind of understand...day to day my 106 gti used to feel tiresome...clunky gearshift, no torque, thrashy engine etc. On the right road it came alive and felt sublime though!
Good motors these but don't expect to save much money between this and the 182...
Hi,
Every now and then, my PH1 172 seems to have an issue with starting.
It cranks over as normal but won't fire into life when the problem occurs.
It's happened on about 3/4 occasions in just under 6 months ownership, everytime I've started to consider what might need replacing, within 10...
If it was me, I'd just make sure everything is spot on and well serviced and then go for:
Eibach sportlines
DS2500 pads and Brembo HC discs
Decent tyres.
Good on you for persisting, hope it works out, the car looks lovely anyway.
P.s the cosy coupe was my first car too, can't bear to chuck it out either so it sits in my garden years on like yours ;)
Liking the sound of this. Nice to hear it won't be stripped and gutted, saddens me when I see loads of PH1s on here going down that route!
Sounds like you've not got much to do to have a really fun and well sorted car. I wouldn't go bright colours on the wheels, been done to death but that's...
Interesting stuff. I agree about the demand thing.
I would however say that your 172, as described, could be put up for £1500 and be sold for that too.
Jardo come on now, that's hardly the average going price for a 172, in fact that's quite exceptional.
I thought I got an ok deal on a ph1 at £1200 with 104k and needing belts doing lol.
There really is no rule of thumb for pricing on these, or so I have found, just keep hunting and something...
Looks a bit rough :(
Too low on the back, pedals are horrid and has the rear wiper hole been duck taped over?
Sorry to be harsh just looks like it needs a fair bit of TLC.
Wheels look superb, I was parked by you at FCS and noticed they were a bit tatty before and the only thing letting the car down a bit. What colour are they, look like a darkish silver?
Get a 106 gti/ saxo vts...all you need is a decat (even on standard exhaust!) and it pops/bangs on demand...by that I mean when you want it to, rather than when you don't.
The Clios I've seen with the pop n bang map sound silly, do it way too much which sounds contrived (well I guess it is)
Always wanted to see some of these too!
Interior one interests me more, apparently when they came out the steering wheel was originally alcantara-trimmed!
Not coming off for love nor money, seems to be bonded on.
f***s SAKE! Could smash every panel in at the moment, 'simple' job turns into a ballache as per
Cheers! Removed them, but the throttle body is not coming away from the plenum :(
Thought this was meant to be easy, too many people on here have said "piece of piss anyone can do it"
