Now you're talking...rarity, plus more weight over the back equalling better handling...Love them in red!
Was a totally mint one for sale recently at under £2k, someone would've got a nice car.
Yeah I wouldn't want to give much more than 2 bags for it. I think they are playing on it being on of the earliest ones and having low(ish) miles. Look at that sagged bolster though:dead:
There's another B reg 1.6 for sale somewhere that's been fully restored, up for £10k!!!!!!
Gents,
My key recently fell apart, it was in bits for a few days but since then I managed to get a new case for it off another clio.
I've transferred all the bits over (circuit board, transponder, battery chip, blade etc) - the car is locking/unlocking on the fob but won't start the car...
Car is now sitting on some nice prolines all round and looks slightly less like a roller skate (was wearing some stilt-effect aftermarket replacement springs) pity I can't drive it as my one and only key is in bits :(
Quite a few on here say every 6k although the Renault schedule is 12k. I go for a happy medium and have been doing mine about 9k using fully synthetic and a genuine Renault filter.
I'd dropped the beam just I'd not got the rear up high enough for them to drop out (was only 1 notch up on the stands). A comical beginners effort I admit but I'll know for next time. Did the hard bit (the fronts) without issue.
Thanks for your help!
Indeed :o
Haha I'm not the best with the spanners, I just hadn't jacked it up high enough that was all. Got there in the end though, and the fronts too, all spot on now.
Not sure a character assassination was due however, working on cars is a learning curve for me. I know half of Cs aspire to be...
For anyone in future who has r****d moments like this, just jack the car up on the middle of the beam as high as it will go, place axle stands either side, then lower the jack completely and the springs will pop out.
From a safety point of view, where do I place the stands then whilst I'm jacking the car up on the sill?
It seems like I'm having to jack the car up really high for the springs to start looking like I can get them out.
Having followed the guide on here, rear shock bolts are removed, car is jacked up on the rear beam, why are the springs not showing any signs of budging at all?
What have I missed lol??
I used to feel bad about giving cars some stick but these french motors are pretty tough. Just keep the oil changes regular and let it warm up and you're good to roll
Ladies and Gents,
Forgotten from when I had my first Clio how s**t the keys are.
My fob broke the other day as I was turning the key in the petrol cap. Since then it's just fell to bits!
Now I have a working circuit board, a straight key blade, but nothing to hold it together!! Meaning I...
Ok cheers guys. I'm comfortable-ish with taking seats out (done it on a Saxo) but this has side airbags etc, how do I safely get around this without throwing up airbag lights etc, you know what these things are like?
I don't disagree!
imprezaworks- those issues might go away once you've actually tried one, instead of assuming all high mileage cars are bad. Wasn't your ph1 on about 90k?
I've had my eyes opened to mileage. IME the worst cars are ones on 60-70k as that seems to be when they start needing lots of work doing/parts changing!
My 100k+ 172 has been solid.
Try one before you knock it I think is what people are saying.
Not really good, but still good considering.
I would say £3000-3500 for old 205's on 90+k miles is good money given what they are.
If a ph1 172 was still fetching that in 5 years time on those sort of miles you would say that is good, because that's more than what they're worth at the moment!
