Its not too bad, but it is one of those areas on a car that once the rust sets in, it can go really bad, really quick.
I dont want a bodge job and rather cut it all out and put fresh metal in there. Certainly not paying Renault prices though.
Like most other 16v owners, I have the dreaded rust coming through on both rear arches.
I have had a look around for new rear arches, but can only find ones for non-16v models.
Any ideas where I can get new 16v ones from and how much?
Thanks
James
Depends how long you plan on keeping it for. Mine was well looked after when I bought it, full service history etc.
I look after it well, change the oil every 6k, check ball joints etc for wear periodically and I have still had to replace most parts, but I have had it nearly five years.
The...
Flat headed screwdriver and gently ease it off all the way round. It will come off, they are only push on. When you do get them off, spray the ends of the torsion bar and get under the car and spray where they are in the middle with WD40 or equivalent and drive on it for a couple of days, it...
Ive got to fit mine, but I have some idea as I fitted them to my 5 turbo.
I would think that the 2 prongs on the larger lamp will go to the dipped connector. The 2 prongs on the smaller lamp will have to be spliced into the wiring for the main beam.
That may or may not work, but that will be...
Throttle positioning sensor.
It is the red thing on the side of the throttle body.
I made scorings around the position of the 2 bolts that hold it in place, as it is factory set and needs to go back in the same place, otherwise it will totally screw things up.
When I took mine off, there...
Yeah easy to do.
Just use some WD-40 on the bar ends a couple of weeks before you do it and keep doing that and driving it for a while, they come out dead easy.

Mine was doing something similar, it would get to the point where it would almost stall and then recover.
I cleaned the ICV, but it was still doing it.
In the end it stopped doing it after changing the rocker cover gasket (plugs were getting fouled by oil) and cleaning the TPS (made a note...
No dead easy.
Mine didnt last long, I replaced them after about 4k!
I put that down to the 17s and being lowered. Loads more stress on these sorts of parts.
Good luck
Im running Konis on mine and never had a problem. Nice 30mmish drop and not too harsh on the ride, unless you have them on the hardest setting and then its nearly undrivable.

My 16v was making creaking and clonking noises when turning at low speed, it turns out the lower ball joints were knackered.
Got them done this and its fine now (apart from the gearbox! LOL!)
James
My gearbox wont go into third at all and whines and crunches when taking up the drive in all other gears.
Does it sound like its dead? I think it is.
If it is, how much would a decent 2nd hand box be?
How long labour wise would it take to fit?
If I do it myself, how hard is it to do...
I realise that Daz, but I have a low temp one in there at the moment that has died and it was a lot better than the standard one as I spend loads of time in traffic commuting into London.
Casiodan, pm sent.

My fan switch has died and I want to get a new one this weekend.
I want a low temp one, but I cant wait for one to be delivered from BB.
I know that the one they sell is the same as another Renault fan switch, but I cant remember which model.
Any idea?
Thanks

It doesnt seem worth paying out for a new pump when it works and the only problem I have with it is the slight loss of fluid from the breathe hole.
I might try the Lucas PS conditioner stuff, see if that works.
I was thinking about making the hole bigger in the cap and attaching a small bore rubber hose to it and running it down under the car so the engine doesnt get covered in fluid. Dont know if this would bugger up the pump though.
Any ideas?
