I have just replaced the engine mounts on my 16v (88k miles). The old ones looked fine from on top, but once they were off, it was obvious they were knackered.
It was a fairly easy job to do and the difference that it has made is amazing.
I have had a horrible klonking sound coming from the...
I think most valvers sound a bit like a diesel on startup, I wouldnt worry about it.
As for the erratic idle, clean the ISCV out with lots of carb cleaner, this should sort that out. Do a search for it on the forum, as there have been a number of posts on it.

Raj,
Gutted for you mate. I saw your car down at Paul Mitchells just before you got it back after the steering saga and it was a lovely example.
Glad u r Ok.

Dont know if I can get the glass off of the front of the lamp to be honest, Ill have to have a look. If I can Ill use masking tape, as the drill bit can slip on sellotape.

I have just got some twin headlamps for the car, but I dont really know what to do about the indicators.
I really want to use the indicator in the light nearest the grille, as discussed in Nick Reads thread some months back. Unfortunately, as I will have to use a motorbike bulb and bulb holder...
Paul,
I have got a Haynes manual, but I only noticed that it wasnt working on my way to work this morning, so I havent had a chance to look at it yet, but I will do.
Richy,
I thought it was quite awkward to get to, am I correct in saying that it is just underneath the inlet manifold...
My oil pressure guage is not working. :(
To fix it, is it just a case of fitting a new sensor?
If so where is it? and how much would it cost?
Also is it worth replacing the coolant sensor?
Thanks
James

To give you an update on my car, as I am awaiting Paul to finish Rajks before he can do mine, I called Paul yesterday & Renault have told him that they couldnt get him a Willy rack for Rajks car until mid November! So much for 10 days.
Paul said that he is going to fit new tracking arms to the...
Dean,
Mine came with the nut welded to the cup, I tried looking for my receipt last night for you for the part numbers, but I cant find it.
I will post the part numbers up if I can find it.
James
Dont re-use the top nut, as they have a nyloc sleeve.
Safer to get a new one.
Renault would do the bolt, the bolt that I think you are referring to is the top of the suspension strut.
New top nuts cost about £30 for both sides from Renault.
James
A new steering rack for a Williams is more than £130, a new one for the 16v from Renault is £210+ (inc vat), and unlike the 16v, you have to get them from Renault.
BTW, Renault havent got any Willy racks in the whole of Europe at the moment, they are having to go to the manufacturer to get...
Before you do anything else get the garage to fit a new rocker cover gasket, or do it yourself, its not difficult. The gasket is about £8.
This is a very common problem on the 16v. I would be very surprised if it is anything more serious than this.
James
If you havent split any oil down the plug wells when filling it up, it is likely to be the rocker cover gasket. I had this on mine, fitted a new one, problem solved.
