There are no 1.8 Mk2 Clio models (Ph1 or Ph2) in the UK, or anywhere else AFAIK. The next step down from the 172/182 is the 1.6 16v or arguably the 1.5 DCi 100.

A healthy Mk1 16V will do 0-100 in about 22 secs. Id be very surprised if a Mk2 1.6 could get much below 30 secs - has anyone timed one?
Not taking anything away from the 1.6 as its a lovely car and potent too, but 25 secs to the ton puts it right up with a lot of hot hatches that do 0-60...

I always try to buy the best quality fuel. I dont think that its that crucial to performance and an octane rating over 95 is probably wasted. On the other hand I do like to keep the fuel system clean by using branded fuel with additives in it and change the fuel filter every 15,000 miles or so.
For the work and money youve put in, I dont think it makes a lot of difference whether you get £1500 or £2000 for it - theyre both not going to pay you back. You probably knew that you wouldnt get the money back when you fixed the car, so Id make the most of it now by keeping it.

The Yokohama A539s I once had were nice, but arent a patch on the Michelin Pilots I now have on my Williams.
