Car Sales men & 172 prices

What is it about most car sales people !? why are they such big W$%k^&s!!!

im interested in buying an m3 second hand 02/03 year and had the unhappy experience of dealing with bmw brighton!

chap got real annoyed when i told him i didnt want a silver m3 with the 18 inch wheels. told him i wanted cosmos black with 19inch or the gun metal gray - he went balistic ! telling me he searched high and low ! i looked in topmarques and found 7! m3s all 3 to 4 grand less than there bunch with similar milage and what looks like similar condition!

more to the point he reckons my 172 with 23k on the clock and a uk supplied car from renault uk dealer is worth £7,600 !!!!

is it me or most dealers under enormous pressure to sell even without listening to what the customer really requires ??

he done me a favour though! saved me thousands as ive told him where to stick it !

Im beginning to want to keep my 172. i mean how hard is it to sell ? these tw*ts must take lessons in talking their way out of a sale!

but then it is bmw !

The low price on your car is because they have to take their profit into account, it has to be serviced, valeted and then priced up with the fact that the price will be knocked down taken into account.

You always get more selling private, because you only have to cover the cost of the car, not peoples wages etc.

just depends on where you go and what day it is, if they need to meet targets they will be the most helpfull people in the world, if theyve just been given their bonus, theyll be @rseholes.

Surely a good salesman will flatter the trade-in price by keeping closer to the sticker price on the car youre trying to buy. The figure given as trade-in is probably the latest Black Book figure, but it could be bettered of course.

My barber (23) was telling me how he was looking at expensive cars with £25k cash in his pocket a few months ago. Im taking as read that he also took with him his loud mouth and short temper, because he had lots of trouble getting test drives on the Mercs and Porsches he was looking at and told what seems like every dealer in Cardiff to go shove it!

When you are trying to get a good price for your own car, the salesman gets into a huddle with his manager in his office or at his desk out of earshot of the customer, and they phone round other dealers looking for a price, and depending on condition and mileage etc, at the most, they offer about £500 below bottom book - so I was told!

Obviously, but again this depends on the mood of the guy at the time (just got or needs his bonus?), and the fact remains that the more he gives on the car is less profit that can be made, and no business man wants to lose money, especially when the better deal he gets for the company will mean a better deal for him on pay day.

Car sales men are generally dicks though, because they seem to think that they have some sort of power, Just IMO. They seem to think that if you dont want the car they are selling then you dont want any car at all.

Ive found if i go to a show room with my Mum (always so she can look), its a nightmare to get any help, but if i go on my own, someone is out and willing to help a lot quicker. Not really related, just trying to point out that they can be knobs.
