I had a Mk1 1.2 before my old Valver - it was a much bigger step up than the Valver was to the Williams.
Youll probably know that a 16V can be a money-pit if you dont buy wisely, but there are very decent examples out there. My Valver cost a lot to run, but my Williams (which is a very...
Of course mate!
What colour is the 182 going to be? Ill keep an eye out as I work at the new Neath-Port Talbot hospital in Baglan from time to time. Keep your eyes peeled for my mint Willy!
Ive seen both a 182 and GTi 180 in the flesh at dealers recently while looking at lesser models. I know which Id prefer on looks, let alone the reviews. One car is getting the best reviews a hot hatch has had since the Williams and is winning every group test; the other is reviewed in...
This is my old one as it was last year (sold to bjfoster and now belonging to Riplash). It had leather, a lightly fettled engine, colour-coded plastics and was slightly lowered on reconditioned Phase2 wheels.
I loved that car. Really miss it - especially the leather and the noise. Ive now...
Private is OK as long as you remember that its the same consultants/medics working on you as in the NHS. BUPA can be a bit hit and miss with some procedures because theres no A&E on site. Some hospitals like Princess of Wales in Bridgend have a private clinic on site, which is a far better...
Was that at Heath Hospital per chance? Cardiff & Vale Trust have big problems that arent faced by most of the rest of the Welsh NHS.
Seriously though, four hours is the average wait.
If its facing up the hill, then the chances are that the system is resting against the chassis because its being forced backwards by the gravity of the slope. Id expect that it was the manifold downpipe that was rubbing, although it could be other points.
Could be one or more of the mounts or joints. My Mongoose system on the old Valver sounded terrible until I had it rehung and resealed - about £20. Give it a try!
It took me a few months to get used to revving to "only" 6500rpm, but you soon realise that theres little to be gained by holding on for every last rev.
The Willy lump is very linear in power delivery and while of couse it pulls even better at high revs, it pulls outstandingly from the lowest...
Nope! I had a 1.2 and it was a quality little car - small victories, but victories all the same. Ill never forget how far 60bhp can take you! :D
I had an E46 M3 trying it on the other day. Was quite tempted as it was around tight twisty bits, but it was a 30 limit and would have been...

No probs. No plans to sell, but then I did say that Id never sell my old Valver! Im probably moving to the city centre of Bristol later in the summer and I know Ill probably have nowhere to keep it then :(. Fingers crossed as the Willy is my lifetime car - always wanted one, always will.
Woo hoo! Check the Williams praise!! ^^^^^
Cheers James - lovely mint original(ish) car you have there.
Id love to have a run-in with a CTR, but the only "races" I seem to get are with hairdressers who cant drive their TTs and angry TD saloon drivers.
I met up with a 180bhp Mi16...
Well, accidents happen and at least you did the right thing and have a clean conscience that you accepted it as you fault straight up. Im always surprised that there arent loads more accidents (including ones that could be my fault - touch wood never been in one).
The Pulsar was a properly rapid machine. I managed to catch him off guard when we went off some traffic lights and although he inevitably caught up, it wasnt until I was well into 3rd. He got his own back by totally hammering me on full boost on a dual carriageway though - and I mean properly...
Yeah, I know it seemed illogical at the time, but an 18 year old driving a Williams for the first time with its owner in the passenger seat is probably more likely to drive it with care!
Like I said, when I was 18 Id have loved to have a go in a Williams so I thought Id dish the car about a bit!
Cars are one of the areas in life where you can save the greatest amounts of money for only moderate effort. £5k may seem like a decent price to change, but is the 182 genuinely £5k better?
Perhaps you think its £3k better, which might be the price to change if you can get £9.5k privately...
Right - just got back from the Cardiff Cliosport meet and have a result!
Thanks to S2 PTH, I managed to trade a drive in his 1.4 Dynamique in return for a drive of my Williams ;). Frist impressions were good - I managed to burn off a Jag X-type diesel going down a sliproad!! Ok, so it wasnt...
