Weird!
Doesnt even look like an RSi, let alone a Willy or 16v.
You know its a bona fide Willy when it has a bazooka tube and chrome mirrors!!
Regardless of the handling issue, 195/50/15 tyres are much cheaper and offer greater choice. I have this size on my "new" Phase2s and they seem fine - they offer a liittle less grip than my old 205/45/16 wheel/tyre combo but are less snappy on the limit.
Bad idea mate (with the greatest respect).
The whole idea of an airbox is that it is a sealed air induction system that provides consistent performance (usually by keeping the air temperature within a certain parameter).
If you drill the airbox, it will remove the aforementioned benefits...
I was following a grey P-reg Fiat Coupe along a dual carriageway just now, both of us in a very orderly fashion. I was wondering if it was a NA 2.0 16v/20v or a turbo 16v/20v...until he booted it out of a roundabout, leaving a Porsche Boxster in its wake. I followed suit at a respectable...
Some of these are a bit wrong.
My 1st car came up correct: LDW = Cardiff
But my current 16v was definitely from London (have a Renault London PDI in service history), but the site told me it was from Birmingham (HOL).
My dads car (OBH) was registered in Bridgend, Wales - but came up as...
The Tipo 16v had a 150bhp 2.0 NA engine in it and weighed about 1200kg. The book 0-60 was 7.9 secs (short gearing??) and top speed was 120mph. My mate has one and its a real street sleeper. Its definitely no 172 beater, but like most real hot hatches, will give you a hard time if you fluff up.
Doesnt sound like an engine conversion to me, although the 2.0 Williams/Megane Coupe lump looks identical to the untrained eye. But they all use the same oil filter, so I guess thats out as a possibility and doubly out as no-one would sell a Valver as a regular F7P-engined car if they knew...
Yup. Thats my engine. I just cleaned it, but it took some doing! Its had some work done to it though as well;)
Dont steam clean your engine - it will kill it.
BenR and I were just ripping up and down some dual carriageway comparing our tuned 16vs "in the name of science" when a Clio got in front of us.
I thought my prayers had been answered in the form of a 172 to race...but lo and behold it was a black 1.2 bum basic model with "Sport" under the...
Dont sell it. I got to the point a year or so ago when the amount of time/effort/dosh that my 16v was taking really made me want to sell it. But after another few jobs were done, the car has been perfect ever since and has given me more trouble-free miles at circa 90-100k miles than my 1.2 did...
The 16v/Willy have a two stage throttle. The first half of the throttle travel opens a small entry to the inlet manifold, while the second stage opens a second, bigger entry. The little one makes the little whistle you get on a 16v/Willy (esp with an IK).
As is normal with VW, most of its engines are way off the pace and they offer about fifteen different versions of the same engine. The base 1.4 8v makes...wait for it...60bhp. The next 1.4 8v makes 75bhp (theres also a 16v 1.4 that makes 75bhp in the Golf) and then theres the 100bhp 1.4 that...
Classic error - never check Max Power for figures. They give the Clio 16v 0-60 in 8.6, but the heavier 19 16v 0-60 in 7.4 (same engine) - erm...go figure!
Unless its a Racing Puma (500 ever made), it has a 1.7 16v that pumps out 123bhp and 116lb/ft of torque (unbelieveably at higher revs...
Mine is just lowered about -40mm at the front on springs and about -20mm at the rear with the adjustment of the torsion bar. The ground in this picture is on a bit of an angle, so the front is actually a bit lower on the left hand side...
