Do i really want a NOVA

Was that said in a "this is the voice of Oracle, earthling - the fountain of ALL knowledge" kind of way??! ;)

Seems like you got off lightly to me!!

Do i really want a NOVA

Well my mates Nova 2.0 (red top 150bhp) is quick, but I wouldnt say its going to give a 172 or 16v a complete panning. And as for handling, yes it has grip, courtesy of coilovers and bigger wheels - but I wouldnt confuse that with handling. By his own admission, its not a car for beating up...

    valver arches

Valver front arches are bolt on jobs. Theyre plastic and cost about £30 per side + VAT + painting. But the rear arches are the whole rear panel (from bottom of windscreen, back to rear window, down to rear wheel and forwards to the door bottom). These cost about £330 per side + VAT +...

    What would you suggest

Tell him to hunt down a Citroen ZX 1.9 TD Volcane (3dr). The first ever diesel hot hatch. Same excellent chassis and passive rear wheels steer as the Pug 306. Same trim as the petrol Volcane series (the 16v/172 of the ZX range). Many come with leather. Prices from £500.

Do i really want a NOVA

If youve got £2.500 to spend, why not go for a 16v, 205 GTi or GT Turbo?? Buying a engine conversion car may seem like fun, but anything over a certain power output is going to make a Nova/Corsa chassis (made of twigs and loo roll) die very quickly. As most people will agree, its much...

    How to p*ss off girlfriend

My girlfriend is a bit "fragile" and all little and hates it when I go over 4000rpm - a bit of a problem in a Valver!! She throws a massive wobly if I do and cries.

    latest mods planned and booked!

I wouldnt do the bonnet vent unless its with special heat resistant paint. I had mine done twice and it just bubbled up under the heat. In the end I painted it with black manifold paint, whci has been fine. The only body mods I have are colour coding the spoiler and side strips. Make...

    dodgy Cars you have owned

I have the use of a Volvo 340 (the real family workhorse - we also have three other, nicer, Volvos too). It has a 1.4 carb engine and totally sucks. But the damn thing just refuses to die! It just costs us £100 a year to insure and £30 for an MOT, which it just flies through without problem...

    Who Will Win

I had an E36 328i go for it off the lights next to me a few weeks ago. Both of us were being really cautious and didnt go for it right away - we both crept off the line and then simultaneously gave it more and more power in 1st. By the end of 2nd gear I had pulled a car on him, but slowed as...

    Rear Arches

£200! Thats a good deal! I dont have any rust on my rear arches per se, but I have an unusual small patch that is growing slowly along the bottom sill. Can you get the sills for Clios or are they part of the rear arch panels?? Cheers

    Enthusiasts Car Cleaning Products

Cheers - Im pretty keen on keeping my car clean anyway! Ive got to give my dads Volvo 960 (probably on of the biggest cars in the UK!) a clean as Im going to sell it for him, but it needs some serious cleaning before I can sell it!

    Supagard

I would always recommend you handwash your car. My parents take their cars to the carwash when Im not around to clean them, and it just takes off the layers of wax I spend days applying! It also scratches the paintwork. If you give your car a good wax treatment, it should come up great for...

    a pointless act!

Just terrible isnt it. Round by me it happens when usually upstanding members of my village community just get drunk at the pub! My home is on the route back from the pub into sticks, so I always make sure my car is hidden away by 11.00pm!!

    Enthusiasts Car Cleaning Products

On the strenths of all this recent talk, Ive just ordered the three-step Meiguars red bottles from http://www.speeding.co.ukwww.speeding.co.uk. Dont have a Harley dealer near me, but I hope this stuff is good. Will also pay a visit to get some terry cloths soon too. My car is black, so I...

    Rattleing noise gearbox or clutch

I had a noise that was present when I released the clutch (like when idling/sat at lights etc) - but it went after a while for no apparent reason. I think it sounds like the clutch release bearing is worn.

    help

Im with Chris on this one. If its happened three times then theres some other component problem/process of wear in play. There isnt any box that springs to mind as an uprated item. If you choose to take a more rounded view on this, maybe youd want to consider reducing the stress on the box...

    help

Sounds like something is placing undue stress on it. Ive had a similar problem and it never returned (touch wood). My box is on 99k and doing just fine - my flatmates one lasted until 130k (when the car was flooded).

Variable Valve Timing I believe...as used by Honda and Rover (1.8 MGF K-series) in the early days.

    Car design

I would just be happy to colour code it, maybe get nice subtle spoiler...a touch of lowering perhaps. Its all IMO of course, but I reckon subtle cars never go out of fashion and always look good. Black looks very nice on the Dynamique range.

    F.A.O Ben H .......

The Golf 16v got there first, but in my haste to waffle, I forgot to say "small" hot hatch!! This review was just for a small site (I forget which one!) as I was a bit fed up people writing about their 16vs (of the 1.2 variety)!!

    Power Boost Valve...Any Good

My car has one fitted, but it was on when I got the car. I think it was added when the headwork and cam re-profiling was done (so the bill says) to help it idle better?

Throttle Bodies (on a 16v this time)

Wow!!!!! I love the final track action where you see the 172 reel in all the Scoobies, GT Turbos, 16vs, Willys - and a VTS that never stood the smallest chance!! But isnt it illegal to tune engines for road use in France??
