Yeah, I had this when I first had my 16v - it was down to tracking, balancing, and a dent in one of the crap aftermarket wheels my car came with. Put on some refurbed Phase2 wheels and all was fine.
BenR has said hes going to be looking into this and I think I may follow him down the TB road as I like my engine and cant really afford a turbo conversion. He reckons that it should be under £2.5k all in, using Weber/Alpha stuff. Hes taking his time over it though, so it doesnt look like well...
The CTR is a good hot hatch etc blah, blah. But I honestly see more of them in Cardiff than I ever see of VTRs. Thats not meant to be offensive, just representative of what cars people drive in this part of the world. Same with Mk1 Scoobies too.
Peugeot also do all their figures assuming the weight of driver, passenger and full tank of fuel - or so Im told at http://www.peugeot-gti.netwww.peugeot-gti.net
Yeah, if its motorised, then its the power steering. If theres knocking etc then post some more details and well diagnose it for you.
I wouldnt ever count on victory against the other if I had a 16v, VTS or 106 GTi. I used to underestimate the Saxo/Pug duo, but theyre probably the nearest...
There was a 1998-early 2000 Mk2 Phase1 RT. They then replaced the RT/RTE/RN/RSi etc range with Authentique (budget), Sport and Etoille (comfort) halfway through the Mk2 Phase1 range (in 2000), which remained until the 2001 Mk2 Phase2 came in.
The Mk2 Phase1 RT had the familar 1.4 Energy 8v...
I used to race everything that moved in my old 1.2
Now Ive grown up and have a bit more welly under my foot, I very rarely race anything. Im the kind that lets others lay down the gaundlet rather than provoking the race myself.
My best scalp (in terms of satisfaction) was a BMW...
The Super 1600 is very accomplished... but not this good!

The Group A Clio Maxi (home to the Clio 16v and then Willy engines) still holds many...
Yeah, Smoothed Clios old RT was as fast as his mates VTR (which had a chip/IK etc if that makes any difference).
The question is, since were all slamming the VTR for being too popular, do you think it would just get the recognition it deserves as a good entry level warm hatch if it was rarer??
Youl find that the Phase2 16v wheels (which are in fact Speedline Vegas) are probably the lightest wheels youll find that look any good in 15" size for the 16v. Theres no point getting aftermarket wheels for the 16v unless you want to for a bigger size as they wont look any better than the...
...ate 215 pies???
(Edit: the post above used to say "ate" as the last word - the slimey CTR swine edited his post to correct it; nulling my amusing postamble!!!)
If you disagree with some of the views on here then I think youll agree that its more diplomatic and friendly not to create a post like this that seems destined to crash and burn in flames of raging argument.
It isnt as simple as a some single crushing argument thats going to make all Clio...
Twingo uses a 1.1 or 1.2 I think.
Im not saying the VTR is an out and out sportscar. Its an entry-level "sports" car! So is a Seicento Sporting!
It has been aimed at a market segment that contains people that want a bit more poke than the cooking models and better handling and are...
Accidents do happen, but its stories like yours that make me happy to stick with my trusted Renault specialist (ex-Renault mechanic).
I only ever deal with the boss - he cares because he knows I have a car that is unreliable and he will get lots of repeat business! Hes always seen it before...
Everyone always moans about how popular the VTRs are, but I never see any! Ive met a couple of VTR drivers with slammed suspension and no other body mods and theyve always been good-looking cars. (yet to see any gross Max Power Jap body kit versions yet)
All credit, the VTR is a very good...
I think some of the times have been got by putting power/weight info into a formula. I think we all know that the Willy will crack the 16sec barrier, probably 15 sec - as standard. And where the hell did they get that shocking 16v time from??
