I found out why the RSi has another 15bhp: its multi-point fuel injection as opposed to single-point on the RT/Bacarra F3P.
So there would be no magic mod for the 95bhp to get it up to the 110bhp of the RSi, I think swapping the injection system might be difficult. Having said that, you...
Thats the Maxi Clio. Renault ran it in Group A rallying with the 16v then Willy engine. Cleaned up the tarmac courses completely. Was faster than all the 4WD turbo nutters on the tarmac. Thats why, some say, the NA maximum category is now 1600cc (Super 1600s).
Erm, its possible given the dosh. But the chassis etc just would not cope. Theres a reason why the Clio V6 is about two feet wider lol!!
If youve spent £25k, then you might as well look into a second hand V6. And if you have to modify it, at least it would be a better starting point.
Cheers ;)
Once my Masters exams are over Ill make it bigger and better and might see if Jas wants one for the main site for people to print off, as the current buyers guide isnt 16v-specific. Seems to be loads of people after 16vs these days.
The 1.8 RT uses the F3P engine. It develops 95bhp @ 5750rpm and 105lb/ft of torque at 2750rpm. There are 1783cc and 1794cc versions of the engine, but the power is the same (most are 1783cc). The RSi has 110bhp from the same F3P and uses the same compression ratio, so I dont know where the...
OK - YOU ASKED FOR IT!!!
Ill turn this into a proper guide one day with photos!
Apart from blue, theres no obvious colour choice and there is a variety of rare and desireable colours to be had - including the mega-rare Tungsten Grey and Green (Phase1 only) and Xerus Grey (Phase2).
Id...
What are microfibres? (I should know - used to work in halfords in another life!) Can I get them fairly easily? No Harley Davidson dealers and the like in Wales!
Dont worry - my car is always under a cover or in a garage when its not used. I havent used it for ages now, I can hear it calling me now... whats that boy? want to go slay some GTis and execs ??
I also splashed out on some terry cloths as well - 75p in Sainsburys. Well worth it when...
My Meiguars steps 1, 2 & 3 arrived the other day. Ordered them as my dad is selling his Volvo and my brothers Volvo too, so if it was cack I could use it on them before selling them.
So I used step 1 on my pearlescent black 16v and noticed how much stronger it is than T-cut. It makes any...
Yeah, the later GSi V6 versions do handle a lot better, so I hear. Not bad considering that the basic Vectra is hardly a dynamic exemplar. What it will be good at is top speed and durability (mechanically at least). All the taxi drivers lap up the Vectra/Omega/Carlton.
Likewise, but I did used to work for Halfords ;)
Best thing is to ask for some sort of acknowledgement of your inconvenience - nothing massive, but maybe a free bottle of wax or something?
Ive had some refurbd Phase2s on for about six months now and the car handles a lot better. I havent noticed a massive speed difference, apart from it being much more reluctanant to as right at the top end (not an issue unless you travel at 3am in the morning on non-camerad motorways).
Ive got a rare June 1994 L-reg Phase2 16v. Most Phase2s are M-reg or later as most people waited until the new plate in August before getting their Phase2s I guess. If its March 1993, then its definitely a Phase1. If you prefer the look of the Phase2, a Phase1 can easily be converted with the...
Depends on how confident you feel and whether its just scratches the lacquer layer. Sounds crazy, but you can take a fine (2-2500) sandpaper to it and have a go, sometimes on the end of a drill - its basically what the specialists do. See http://www.autopia.orgwww.autopia.org and the guides at...
Mines also one spline at the rear, and it seems to be about 20mm to me? Just covers the tops of my tyres (195/50/15). Want to get some coilovers soon though and may go a lot lower :devilish:
Most Vauxhalls (especially Cavalier, Vectra & above) are geared very highly for the German market and do silly top speeds given their engines. Its the same with Mercs - a boggo C-Class will do 130mph.
Yeah, Optimax has a pretty short shelf life. I use occasionally as I like the idea of using a quality fuel, but Id never buy it for a car like the 16v for any performance benefits.
Really? I didnt think that they were radically different. After all, the F7R was developed from the F7P. Ive never heard of problems with the F7R bottom end...
Im just curious as my engine is a tuned F7P and if I could pick up an F7R bottom end for under £500, then it would be a cheaper way...
To be honest (and sorry for hijacking the thread), I would go for the F7R Megane Coupe/Williams bottom end and keep with the F7P head if youre thinking about re-boring - would be a lot cheaper and torque would be there with little work.
My F7P was tuned by the guy I bought my car from and he claimed it made 170bhp at the fly on an engine dyno (which I verified from the garage he had it done at). But two years later a recent rolling road gave it 128bhp at the wheels. It was still more than all the other 16vs, but Im guessing...
AFAIK, the Phase1 172 has different bumpers, bigger front arches, side skirt, rear disc brakes, spoiler and wheels to distinguish it from its lesser-engined Clio brethren. They should have given it a bonnet bulge and fat rear arches too, like they did on the Mk1 16v/Williams.
Lol! What about the 19 Cabrio and TD - more top 19s. A 1.4 Energy may not be as fashionable as the Clio, but a hell of a lot better than a wheezy pushrod 1.3 Escort on massively underpowered 1.4 Astra.
Im no expert, but amongst the more common colours there are the rare Sunflower Yellow and Scarab Green (only available on the ltd edition 172 Exclusive).
Have a look at the car specs on the main site... www.cliosport.net.
The 1.2 "Sport" would have been one of the later Phase1 Mk2 Clios.
If youve got £6300 to burn, Im sure you could get a newest shape 1.2 Dynamique Phase2 for that money. Theyre about £8-9000 new, so there should be some used ones around the £6k mark?
