Ive got a BB Tuning de-cat coming in the post and Im fitting it on Saturday. The Clio 16v/Willy engines have a massive, deep induction roar anyway - so it should be interesting to see what effect it has. I was convinced after I drove Loftys Willy-converted 16v a few weeks ago - even turning...
I bought a 16v with a re-built and tuned engine for what seemed like a good price at the time - it also had leather and all orignal panels/paint.
Within three months the entire transmission had given up the ghost and there were a myriad of other problems that needed sorting. At that point I...
Large amounts of movement could also be due to a diff going. Dont want to make a large thread, but basically theres a washer in the o/s diff and it can wear, taking the whole diff with it.
Check the engine/gearbox rear mounting link ("dog bone"). Theres one engine mount supporting the drivers side of the engine to the strut turret; another holding the gearbox to the other side of the car and a third (the dog bone) sits at the back of the engine/gearbox and stops it rocking back...
Is this when the car is standing or when youre moving? I think a certain amount of movement is normal in a car when its moving.
Ive had all my engine mounts replaced and theres still movement - in fact, I dont remember it getting any better. The mount youre on about will be the "dog bone"...
The Racing version came with a nicer interior, some fat arches (more like Maxi than 16v/Willy), bigger wheels, handling mods and an uprated engine.
But at £22k they were seriously into Elise/Scooby territory and the planned 1000 turned into only 500 sales. Id be content with one at circa...
The standard 2.0 16v is a 130bhp unit and it would be meat for a new-shape 1.6 Clio. The 2.0 ST170 would make a good match for the 16v; more power but with a power-to-weight of 140bhp/ton (the same as a standard 16v).
I do my very best not to park in car parks, but when I have to, I look for spaces at the end of the row. That means I can park away from the one car to my side without disturbing anyone else.
I mostly use my bike/the train etc. Ive not used my car in about 2 months now - back on the road...
Cyfarchion o Loegr! Yn wreiddiol, or de ydw i, ond yn astudio ym mhrifysgol Bryste ar y pryd. Gyraf 16v du gyda lledr - a mi rydw in dychwelyd i ardal Gaerdydd o bryd iw gilydd.
The 2.0 T in the Vel Satis is tuned for 165bhp. Id think they could do some fairly simple mods to it considering the NA 2.0 in the RenaultSport Clio makes 172bhp. But the best (though more expensie option) would be to sort out some forced induction to a higher performance engine like the 172s.
Aw! Lofty! You let the cat out of the bag!
Never mind, cheers for the compliments about my 16v - yours is stunning too, and is very different to drive than mine!
But Neil, as I was saying earlier on, the only test Ive seen of a 16v was in Autocar in 1991:
0-60 7.3 secs, 30-70 7.1...
If you like the high revs power band on your Clio 16v, then youll love the CTR. My flatmate also has a 16v and is about to get a CTR.
I do like the CTR and will happliy wave/flash my respect to a CTR driver and mostly get the same back. But for me, the CTR just isnt my taste. Sure, its a...
