an active sub in no easier to fit tbh also they tend to be tuned to be loud as they tend to use under powered amps so you lose alot of sound quality

yeah but with a pre out pass through you can run another amp for anything else yeah the amp drives the sub the amp just gets the signal from the head unit

sub and amp combo not an active one. plus if you get a decent amp they normally come with a pre-out pass through so you can connect as may in a chain as you like (within reason)

have you checked all the the fuses are ok? failing that is there a way on the head unit loom to connect both to the battery +?
