    Back to Clios or not?

Belts is the major one. 172s have gearbox issues. Also finding one that's had its fluids kept in check is tough. Timing is also a problem, if it's had the timing belt replaced by a cowboy it's entirely possible the engines lost +20bhp and/or screwed the insides. Doom & gloom over, finding a £2k...

    Clio 182 help

They're riding you. As above refresh the coilpacks. That might help. Sometimes replacing a the catalytic converter is a must. A clogged cat is no reason to replace a whole system. Besides that A new exhaust system will never cost 1300.

Put one above the air in take if it's aftermarket and I'm sure it'll look good.

    Where to buy?

Id say the best place is here. Members look after there cars here and it's so rare to find people that don't have that "it's just a clio" mentality. Plus sellers on here can be named and shamed so they won't hide problems. Typically a good example would be £2k-£3k Clio with less than 80k miles...

Why would anyone do this to a clio???

Oh true, Orange is a disgusting colour on most cars but those are the only non standard seats I've seen fitted to a clip that weren't some ridiculous buckets

    Suspension for dummies

oh yeah definitely bin. Just can't tell why the springs work on one clio and not another. They're not cracked or bent or anything. And about the cooksports, anyone know how far they'd lower the rear on standard 1.2 shocks?

    Suspension for dummies

Yeah that's what I was expecting too. That was how it sat on the donor car. Sadly the manufacturing mark/part no. Is not present.

    Suspension for dummies

New development. This is the passengers rear. I can see now it's not seated properly but am I right in thinking springs shouldn't be compressed in the middle and flexed and the ends?

    Suspension for dummies

Guess it must be the springs. I've done this quite a few times on different cars but the arch gap was so ridiculous that 60mm felt like it would barely move it. The springs were from another 1.2 and the wheels were flush with the top arch on the donor car. The springs weren't even fully...

    Suspension for dummies

Just fitted -60mm lowering springs at the rear on my 1.2 because the arch gap was LITERALLY 112mm vertically. Problem is the springs are almost completely compressed (to the extent that the coils are now touching). The back end feels jumpy so I want to get some firmer shocks but I can only find...

    182 Alloy Refurb Issue

Never seen an official paint code that didn't come out a different shade but fingers crossed and let us know how it turns out

    182 Alloy Refurb Issue

Good effort so far. A decent paint shop/accident repair shop can colour match and mix up a few litre for you. If you don't have a compressor and have to do a rattle can job then spray all four. Cans will never make the same effect as the original paint

Clio 1.2 Campus Sport Lowering Springs

The springs are cheap enough but look for the tuv approved sign. You'll need to see how they sit but most people get shorter shocks soon after. But bear in mind the ideal out come is for the springs not to be fully compressed.

Looking For The Foam Pads That Sit On The Inner Front Wings

Never found these on a non sport. never seen them at all tbh. What are they supposed to do?

    My 1.2 dynam practice model

Yeah the whole dash had to be removed and then the whole instrument computer comes out. The face trim can be unscrewed from the back.

    172 seats!

Most breakers cut the wires with the connectors still attached to the seats. But these are a pain to detach. I've always soldered the wires when doing pretensioner/seat changes. The only problems you may have are if you are changing seats between a phase 1 and a phase 2 as the wire looms were...

Fitting pre tensioners to bucket seats. What's required?

As above, it's easier to fix the pretensioner to the floor. But it is so much easier to retire the seatbelt warning light and just fit a harness

Clio Trophy - Sell or break for parts ?

The car as a whole is still worth more than all the parts at used prices. With 88k on it, it's definitely worth the respray. I'd be surprised if you got less than 1500 for the whole car as it sits.

    2nd 172 and a few niggles

    1. Depending on the whether the speedo sensor is in the wheel hub or the gearbox, it could be that the previous owner has switched either of these components or disabled the abs. 2. As above in regards to the abs. And the horn may have been stripped out. 3. Electrical stripping gone bad.

    mk1 16v wheels

There are a few people round Southampton that would (and have) paid a pretty penny for them. Last I saw were sold for £300 with plastic caps

    182 alloys and tyres

Cup alloys are anthracite in colour whereas the non cup 182s had the silver alloys. And if I'm not mistaken the trophy 182s had the turini alloys. Here are my 182 cup alloys, I've run 195 and 205. Personally 205 is better

    Swapping parts from a ph2 to ph1.

As above, I can tell you what won't fit. The headlights and wings are a given. I also think the dash needs a little wiring and fixing work but nothing most people will have difficulty with
