Really can't fault clio turbo. Never been to a garage with such good customer service. Only problem with them is Now I want it turbo'd. If it wasn't for the wife I would have been tempted to get it done whilst the engine was out.

Car has obviously been abused in the past. Almost mint now. Only things left to replace are wishbones & dampers. Strangely the more that goes wrong with it the more I love it. I have learnt a hell of a lot mechanically through it

So today was a bit of styling. Having seen another car with this mod I decided to do it myself. I now know why I don't like window tint! Many many attempts

Today brake fluid change. Eezibleed kit my arse! I will never use this again as it resulted in brake fluid going every where. In the end I ended up doing it with my wife. The only way I will ever do it in the future. Two nipples where stuck so after a bit of running about I managed to get some...

172 Cup hessitation/misfire on long journeys

Yes. It was diagnosed as tdc sensor. The plug on either end wear meaning the sensor doesn't send a good signal

Plans for the moment are for a brake refresh as the stopping power is non existent. So to begin with there will be a fluid change. So I bought these hoping to make the job as easy as possible. Backs were done last year so I'll be concentrating on the fronts. Brembo's I think will be my choice...

    Newbie from Newcastle Upon Tyne

Welcome along good to see another goerdie! You will pay top dollar up here for a 172 or 82 as I found out. Make sure you have proof of belts having been done or budget for this if you decide to buy one without proof. Belts are around the 500 mark so the seller should deduct this from the price

    Con1981's 172 dog

Yep the teeth off the belt had stripped. It was the choice between rebuild the head or replace the engine. I went for replace as this came out as a more economical repair. New dephaser, water pump, all fluids, aux & cam belt replaced. The engine that went in had less mileage than mine so...

Well a bit of an update. Got my car towed to andy at clio turbo. New engine is now in and the car is running well. Had an initial issue with a misfire and a tdc sensor however following a quick exchange of emails the car was booked back in and sorted. So far so good. Car will go back in the few...

    Help Identify Loud Donk?

You've been driving it so far I presume so I wouldn't worry too much. Just don't Cain it. The lower strut to hub bolts I found a pain in the arse to remove. If you break them they are £6 a piece from renault. I broke all of mine so I replace with m14 hex bolts 60mm in length part threaded with...

    Help Identify Loud Donk?

I needed spring compressors on mine although some say you can do it without. I don't know of the cup springs are different from the non cup.

    Help Identify Loud Donk?

I had the same issue a while back. For me looked as though it had already one replaced but they didn't do the other. This was a good time for me to upgrade to some eibachs as 2 new front springs were going to be £100.

    Help Identify Loud Donk?

    Chances are it's the spring

    Help Identify Loud Donk?

Yeah that's right. Although if you've recently replaced its unlikely it that causing the noise

    Help Identify Loud Donk?

Have a feel around the cup on the damper where the spring is seated. You may find a bit of spring there. If not check it's seated right. Other option is to drop the shock from the car although I don't think that will be necessary

If it's not a top mount my money is on a snapped spring. From the pics that lower ball joint looks brand new

I'm looking at improving the sound in my 172 and i'm considering an active subwoofer however i need the space (i've got a german shepherd that goes out in the car at the weekend. So either has to be easily removable or compact. I don't want anything too heavy either I've got budget of around...
