Now the car flew through it MOT. Home and dry me thinks. The dog is now fully sorted perhaps a few tastefull mods were planned wheel spacers and an underseat woofer for a bit of bass were on the cards. These however are going to have to wait.
2 days after It's MOT the dog decides to throw it's...
So everything is going well until prep for MOT time again and find a broken spring and play in one ball joint.
It seemed rude not to fit a full set of eibach sportlines.
So fast forward to this year and I finally got round to fitting the cruise control along with a new hand brake cable, standard back box as the other was so rotten it flew off the back
So now the car was through its MOT it was time to have a little play. Wind deflectors were first on the list.
And then I decided on this. Please don't ask me what I was thinking
Needles to say it was on the car for less that 24hrs.
After a little bit of enjoyable motoring the next...
The story begins........
I bought this black 172 about two years ago. Not knowing a lot about these cars other than they are as fast to 60 as an S3. My trusty vw bora was suffering head gasket failure and was going to require a new engine. So weighing up the cost of a new lump vs...
Mate any fastenings you buy from a dedicated supplier will be fine.
Renault don't make their fastenings to a higher standard than anyone else. Generic fastenings are perfectly fine and will save you a fortune.
I have done this with no issues
Hello fella'a my eibach sportlines and I'm now contemplating some spacers.
Using my state of the art measuring system (chock of wood & a tape measure) I notice I have 35mm at the back and 40mm at the front to make them flush with the wheel arch. Now I've noticed most people only run 10mm at...
Yep got some m14 washers as well. Your correct no splined bit and to be honest makes absolutely no difference once they've been in a while I'm certain they will seize up like the old ones had leaving me with five broken 21mm sockets. Plenty of heat was the only way to get those little buggers out!
Sorted. Now renault wanted £5 a bolt and couldn't get them for at least 2 days. A local fastening place sorted me out 4 for £5 with nylon locking nut.
For any one that is interested any m14 hex bolt with 60mm length (only half of this is thread.) will do
Seems like it's every weekend I'm in this part of the forum LOL. I'm swapping my springs for some nice eibach sportlines. However these pesky hub to shocker bolts are all stripping as i remove them from the shocker.
I've seen this thread...
Fixed!
I'd accidentally used the old angle sensor on the new squib. The little lugs on the old one which lock it on the wheel had broken off meaning the wheel moved but the sensor didn't so it was registering as being out.
Hello fella's. Got round to fitting my cruise control today. I had to separate the squib to fit my indicator stalk it came with one on and everything taped in place and as the lad said he couldn't remove it I thought I'd give it a shot. I am now regretting my decision I now know it was taped up...
If the head gasket has gone you will notice an oily smell in the coolant and the header tank will have a crazy amount of back pressure when u pop the top. Does the car overheat?
If none of the above your head gasket is fine
