Having a real disastrous time trying to match paint without a paint code.

Didn't have it. As a Ford colour it's American colour so they didn't have it

Having a real disastrous time trying to match paint without a paint code.

Tried that didn't match. I was told the colour is Aztec gold. But couldn't find anything that matches. Went through Halfords full colour mixing chart today.in the end the fella just gave up. Which was comically when he'd started with I can match anything

They said it couldn't be done. Even halfrauds failed. Mrs con1981 though succeeded!! Thank you to my brilliant wife for painting the centre's. Not far off

    Con1981's 172 dog

They've only just gone on today. Initial impressions are they seem really sticky. They didn't take a massive amount of balancing either. Once I get a few hundred miles under my belt on these I'll be able to tell better. My commute to work involves both motor way and b roads so I should be able...

Do I need a fuel rail guard?

They want to be magic for that price. As long as you know the diameter of the bolt and the thread you can pick these up for next to nowt at any fixings place. Last time I needed some of these the local fixing place near me just asked for a contribution to their tea fund.

Next up these 10mm spacers will go on the back once my abs sensor for my o/s rear turns up. No point in putting them on yet and then having to dismantle it all again

Alloys are now on and I have to say pretty pleased with the results. Only issue I've had is matching the centre caps. The wife is better at painting than me so she had taken over trying to match the colour

    these spacers any good?

I'm running standard 172 wheels so I'm guessing if the hub needs 9mm and the bolts are 26mm as standard that's 17mm.

I got then done as a favour by my father unlaw with some paint they had left. He told me they wouldn't be able to do the centre's as they would melt

Having a real disastrous time trying to match paint without a paint code.

Powder coat my alloys gold I said. Really wish I hadn't. Tried about three different Golds from Nissan gold, a general hobby gold and Ford Olympic gold. I can't for the life of me get the colour on my centre caps to match! What colour gold do you reckon my alloys are? I'm thinking about...

    Semi-urgent- grinding/rubbing from offside rear

If you can wind the piston in its not seized. The caliper is not at fault. Did you free off the two pins that the caliper bolts two the ones with the rubber dust covers on the carrier?

    Con1981's 172 dog

Tires have arrived today. Really pleased with how these look. Can't wait to get them fitted this weekend. I've gone with Syron race 1's (the semi slicks didn't seem practical with winter just round the corner). These are made by/for keskin and seem to get some decent reviews on other forums...

    Semi-urgent- grinding/rubbing from offside rear

The calipers float on a pin which allows the caliper to adjust to how much is left on the pads. The two bolts that hold the caliper to the hub are only partly threaded and the unthreaded bit can rust solid into the carrier

Jet wash and cilit bang has worked for me in the past

Fancied doing a DIY refurb, How do I get the powdercoat off wheels?

I would just give them a light sand do they are keyed and just paint over the top. Plastidip is another option but I found brake dust seems to stick to it
