Well my cup makes peak power at 6,250rpm. When the oil is cold you hit the limiter pretty soon after this.
Once its warm however you can take it up to around 7,250rpm before the limiter intrudes.
Hello all,
Ive had my cup for a while now but only done 3,800 miles in it. My front tyres are nearly worn through!
I took it to have the tracking checked and its spot on. I do drive the car hard (its rude not to), but Id expect a little more life from them than that. The rears are almost...
Although I paid for my Cup in cash, I had a 1.2 (MTV edition) as my first car which was on Renault finance. No bank or loan company could get near what Renault were offering.
Ok so the VTS can be purchased for 9k (import), but the Cup is twice the car. So that would mean anywhere below 18k is a steal for it!
Ok so Im biased!
Hardcore - What your saying is correct in that a turbo will produce that 1 bar for a longer rev range. I know that you dont just build an engine to withstand 1 bar, I wasnt going all scientific, but its making really good discussion, so Ill carry on.
Based on what you have said, the force on...
If you took off that torque biasing differential and fitted it with a standard or fast road LSD, it would be a great car for the road. Theres always a compromise somewhere.
Besides, most of the people that buy them will be more worried that it has an RS badge, but a rear wing only a fraction...
No - 17s will not increase top speed!
If you have 17 inch wheels, the tyres MUST be a lower profile to make the entire wheel size (rims + tyres) the same diameter. If you dont, the speedo will be wildly inaccurate.
No one has mentioned handling yet either. I know 1 guy who has a Pulsar GTi-R...
Hardcore I can see your point, but you must remember that you are going to build an engine to withstand 1 bar of boost (for arguments sake) and so if it gets from no boost to 1 bar in 3,000 revs (super) of 500 revs (turbo) the engine is still going to see 1 bar in the end. If the engine is built...
Going back to the supercharged vs turbocharged topic - Id like to point out a few facts:
1) A supercharger is not better than a turbocharger.
2) A turbocharger is not better than a supercharger.
They both exist because 1 will suit a given application better than another. If I was to modify...
Youll find that very few tuning companies will print a power/torque figure as some customers get very upset when their cars dont make the printed figure after the modification. This is probably why Renault are keeping a bit quiet.
Im sure there will be lots of bits to come. That 15% figure...
Ive spoken to R-Sport a few times and they seem very nice and enthusiastic. I was actually the one who did all of the original ECU investigation, but decided only to tell a select few people (i.e. Cupsize) and not make a public post until I Knew for sure what was going on.
I decided this...
Theres a hell of a lot you could do with the little Renaults brain. 2 Litre, 16 valve, Variable Valve Timing. If R-Sport werent bringing out their new Group-N ECU mine would have been on the Rollers by now for some serious mapping. Looks like theyve saved me the bother. LOL
It is possible to do anything including supercharging. The problem is that its not widely done on a Clio so there are no off the shelf packages. I suppose the limmiting factor is cost.
Optimax is around 98.6 RON when it leaves the refinery, but by the time it has found its way out of your injector its probably a fair but lower.
Independant tests have shown Optimax to degrade after around 40 days of it being created. In this time it has to be loaded onto a tanker...
Octane boosters dont do much at all. They are just made to suck in the Max Power generation. Most products will claim they can HELP raise the RON level by 3-5 points, but they mean 10th of a RON e.g. 95 RON plus octane booster will give you 95.5 RON.
Another example, A Skyline owner had to...
Well the shift light is linked to oil temperature. It comes on at around 6250 when the oil is not warm, then raises to 7000 when it is.
I have heard some negative thoughts on Optimax (from automotive engineers, not pub experts) which I wont go into, but have run my car on it from day 1.
Im...
1) Swap the speakers over (right to left and left to right). Does the same speaker still hiss of does the one that didnt hiss now hiss?
If the same speaker still hisses, check connections or replace the speaker.
2) If the other speaker now hisses, check the cabling from the back of the head...
When a clutch slips, its usually only for a second or so because when the clutch slips, it heats up very quickly which creates more friction. After this point the clutch wil usually grip. Its like youve got a rally spec final drive ratio of something. ;)
Going back to the thread subject, it seems that it is ok to run Nitrous Oxide in a road going car so long as your insurer knows. N2O is clearly not flammable on its own and therefore NOT a fuel.
N20 is merely another source of forced induction and so if N20 was not road-legal, neither would...
