With the volume of air being sucked into the engine, the fan would probably lose you power by causing an obstruction to the flow. Electric fans are never going to give you more power no matter what your mate or eBay sellers say. Lol
You'll need a m14x1.5 banjo bolt and fitting but yeah, you could do 1 side only.
I made up the fitting from 2 1" fittings and a 1/2" into an equal tee. Ended up not using it because I got forge hoses an with aftermarket hoses the is a join just before the heater matrix that you can split and...
Thanks mate! :)
The catch tank is not fancy. It a bulkhead mounted baffled tank with the ports in the correct place for where I wanted them. Got it off ebay for about £50 iirc.
IME a catch tank is definitely needed on turbo cars. No one in their right mind would run a performance car with oil...
Agree with the cooler. I use a laminova cooler so using coolant rather than air to cool the oil. Much small than air coolers and fits easier in the engine bay especially with a turbo car due to intercoolers and boost pipes.
I used a breather filter on my car at the start and would not recommend...
You will struggle with mapping the standard ecu with boost so that will be the first issue. The loom will need to suit the ecu you choose.
I will be selling a megane 225 turbo, exhaust manifold, inlet manifold, downpipe, link pipe and injectors very soon if you are interested?
Have a look and see if the manifold is touching the heat shield or subframe where it passes through over the subframe to the underside of the car. If it is it could be needing a small tweek or the engine pulled forward. Both of which should be relatively easy. Your dog one gearbox mount could be...
Just got one for £76 but that was through a mate who works for Renault.
Got quoted £126 + £9 del from wests Renault.
There are 2 types though but I think the cup ones are the cheaper of he 2 with no aircon.
I'm fitting a 6 point OMP bolt in cage just now and was thinking that's what you guys are using is it not?
Any chance you could show me some pics of the six mounting point platforms and also any mods you have made from standard like harness bars or door bars?
Sorry if these are in your thread...
Re: 172 Cup track toy!
Started fitting my OMP 6 point cage today with the help focrs and his welding skills. Didn't get as far as welding due to another poor fitting cage and useless platforms that are going to be binned.
Had a read through some other people's experiences with this cage and...
No probs, should get it Monday. Most couriers don't do Saturday deliverys out here in the sticks in our wee village called Glasgow for some reason even if they charge you for it.
No, mine was running about a bar when he was mapping it but hit some problems so mapping had to end prematurely.
As Chip says, paint then bake to about 100deg gradually.
No down pipe yet. :(
Good choice with Scoff. Tell him I'll be back shortly. ;)
Make sure the things you are painting with VHT get very hot or you can bake them in the oven or it doesn't cure. I painted my inlet manifold thinking that it would get hot enough and it never fully cured and still rubs off.
Someone has went to a lot of trouble to make this not look like a 172 cup except a respray. Door badges missing, Turinis missing, leather seats.
Looks clean though.
I drove over 250 to take mine to him. As said, waste gate open and keep it below 3k with no heave loads and you'll be fine. He definitely knows what he's doing with these things so you'll be in safe hands.
He developed the generic aem piggy back ecu for the engine dynamics kit for them too.
Scoff at EFI parts did my loom and mapping for £480 if that's anything to go by. I thought that was top notch and also massively helped me with his knowledge along the way. It was a fair drive but well worth it IME.
Looking for some help on what the thickness and dimensions need to be for a bolt in cage. I have an OMP 6 point cage that has platforms for the main hoop but not for the rear or front legs. The middle hoop has the raised platform but I am presuming the front and rears are just plates welded to...
i tried this with mine but it wouldn't lift any oil from the sump. Mine was a full engine strip so the block had no oil in it, just assembly lube so this may be different.
Looks a very clean and tidy car for it's age.
Plans sound good and ive got some bits in the garage that may interest you like standard airbox, full 172 cup suspension. I'm looking for a 172 Decat too if you decide to get rid. ;)
I had to swap to 2 piece shafts due to this problem. The oil return hit the gaiter of the one piece shaft but the fell between each of the gaiters on the 2 piece shafts.
I would cancel the ,aping as you don't want to have to cancel a mapping session half way through due to issues caused with...
