Looking for a favor as my engine is out the car just now, could someone measure the distance between the head and the front cross member. I need to know how much space I have for an inlet manifold without having to remove it which would mean losing the bonnet catch.
Thanks!
12 owners, that's like 1 a year. Hot totty if you ask me.
Lots to be had cheaper than that in that condition. Just because it's local doesn't mean its any good.
I'm going to do what's on the second pic but get a weld on an10 fitting. Your drain should have a free flow into the sump but I found the level of the sump to be slightly higher if you return to sump so trying something different this time.
Tyre pressures depends on how much heat you get into them so there isn't a right of wrong. Start about 30psi on the front and 26 on the rear and see how it goes. Will depend on track temp, weather, your driving style, how long you are out on track, your setup, etc.
Some say start at road...
Re: Show us your 172 cup's
Cheers guys! This engine is now sold to some other lucky B and is to be replaced with something even better very soon.
2 of my favorite cars cars that I'm the proud owner of, my daily driver Impreza P1 and the track ***** 172 boost junky cup!

A mate is wanting to change his troublesome auto box on his '02 f4r megane coupe with a manual box.
Does anyone know if a jc5 box would fit on and what would be required for the swap?
List as is would be:
JC5 box
Pedal box off a 172 with clutch cable
mounts?
driveshafts?
Anything else...
Only going for about 350 (for now) but want it to be as efficient as possible and the standard inlet is not that. Also want to reduce the weight and remove the need for the join in the upper and lower sections.
Also looking at custom tubular exhaust manifolds but that will be next.
Think I'm sorted now. Got a design I've made up after doing all my calculations with runner lengths, plenum volume and taper, trumpet heights and angles and of course injector boss positions.
I'm going to use a megane 225 inlet manifold for the flange and injector bosses then everything else...
I'm looking at getting a custom inlet manifold made for my new turbo setup but wasn't sure how far from the head and at what angle to make the injector bosses. I have looked at a few designs and can obviously copy the original megane 225 inlet manifold position but is that the best place? Some...
Looks like you are 180deg out with the cams and it looks like your exhaust cam is not pointing perfectly into the center line of the inlet cam so to me it just looks out. You would only advance the inlet to a maximum of 7deg if you removed the dephaser surely or you would have 14deg of advance.
Glad everything is ok with the wee one and the mrs mate. The clan is getting bigger now!
Looks a good build too now and look forward to seeing the results.
