hang on ; replies will come. You are 8 to 9 hours earlier than us up here. i think most will come when you go out for a beer or to bed ;)
Also change the leads while you're at testing the best plugs !
:D
ACTUALLY.... this is what i did to make the car feel like a brand new one ! ;
Inner + outer trackrod/ends , lower balljoints , new set of tyres (Michelin PE2's; excellent tyre) , new laser-alignement/tracking
I forgot to mention the new enginemounts (all round) which i did not too long...
like i said, they come out the box like that and since the t.ü.v. regulations are pretty strict in Germany i believe this setup to be the best/safest one. (Only Mark Fishy knows, ? )
You could go lower "for the looks"
Re: Pads - Green Stuff = s**t!
sorry, bit of hijack here ;
Brembo Max , or Brembo HC ? for very fast road use only ; no track as of yet
Am on the verge of throwing out my oem discs and Greenstuff pads.
Btw; the Greenstuff pads were no upgrade, but the brake-dust that comes off is...
Except wearing they also split in half sometimes ; this will def cause a lot of shaking etc.
Can you move/rock your engine back + forth by hand ? If it moves more than lets say a cm or 2 then you should be looking at mounts
When going for a 15 inch wheel it is'nt for the looks, they are chosen for lighter weight which bring very good results in handling/accelaration+deccelaration
This is a mod i would still like to do. Had some Magnesium 15" on order but i cancelled because of a sudden risk of job-loss.
Oms makes sense to me
when knowing your car through + through you will notice any difference done to it.
My best ones; losing weight as mentioned (!) , exhaust front to end (no cat) inlets/filter and Colombo & Bariani cams custom mapped by Henk (fastchip.nl) . 182 exhaustmanifold was also...
update.. all is fitted but i had to drill the holes on the joint from 10mm to 12mm ; pissed off but it turned out quite well.
Also did inner+outer trackrods/ends , feels nicely "new" now to throw around a curve
So in conclusion ; lower ball joints, inner and outer track-rod ends + mounted...
.. when you say "tailgate" , you're not talking about a turbo car with a waistgate are'nt you ?
** EDIT ** just read your reply ..
My Saxo used to also smell on full throttle, no worries
do you have a standard induction elbow (from filterhousing to throttle body) with the crank-case oil tube mounted on it ?
I have a aftermarket elbow , disconnected the tube and put a filter on the end so it vents to atmosphere; quite smelly on full throttle sometimes ; oil probably drips on...
They cost me 36 euro's each ; this is with bolts and nuts.
I got them this afternoon and we will be fitting tommorow morning. Hope i'm finally done with this then !
Thanks Dave. I also ordered the inner + outer track rod ends/ track rods just to be sure to eliminate all play because my car is all over the place when flooring her.
You're right about that ; the rack-make is needed to order those parts.
Now for the ball-joints !! I spoke with Renault...
thanks Alper , i may have to change the order made (will see if the ones ordred now fit?) and next will trie yours.
This is now doing my head in , how hard can this be ?!!
You have a problem deciding i think , do'nt know what you want :D;) I have seen a lot of your posts over the last years coming on here and you seem to leave projects unfinished and going for another one. Ah well, when money's no prob why not !? :)
A man and his hobbies :cool:
Alper, is this a Scenic one ?
I have a SMI steer-column/system ; had to put the car on a bridge to find out the brand (TRW or SMI) , this SMI brand is what they used at Renault to order the parts i need
As above , i just called Renault to cancel the order i placed for above part number because i just read this thread here but they were closed already. Skini on here seems to have experienced that a different partno. was a fit for the 172
