40K miles is still a fair old amount... we're talking hundreds or low thousands of miles here though. In my case I've done 2500 miles since I changed them 4 years ago in 2020.
As @jameswrx mentioned above, the problem is more related to the aux belts than the timing belts. Aux belt failure will take out the timing belt. A guy who runs a business specialising in Clios made an FB post a while ago advocating replacing everything within date. When I quizzed him on the...
Like many of us on here now, I use my 182 sparingly. 3 years and just under 3000 miles ago I took the engine/transmission out of the car and replaced just about everything. Among the many items I replaced were all the belts. I used brand new genuine Renault ones. Now the change interval for...
I'm planning on changing the gearbox oil in my 182. Just wondering if the gearbox oil drain plug is the same as the engine oil drain plug [link below] and if not, whether anyone would have the part number for the drain plug washer as I'd like to swap that while I'm at it.
Massive thanks in...
My friend with the Snap On [Solus] came over this afternoon and unfortunately it won't communicate with the ABS module on the 182 :( It'll do a code read on the module but nothing more.
So I guess I'm faced with having to get RS tuner... any recommendations on what should get from Fastchip. I...
Ya that is different to the Renault Workshop manual alright... it's RL->RR->FL->FR... Hopefully the Snap On has something similar as I'm guessing RS Tuner is organising the pump configuration as you're doing this.
Thanks for this Martin. Were you using the Autel when you ran through the 4L ? Is the RS Tuner sequence different ? Problem is I don't have Clip or RS Tuner... just access to my mate's Snap On. Also, when you talk about the RS Tuner Bleed Sequence... is there a process they suggest doing ?
Ya I bled all four corners... actually let run for a while until I could see the new fluid coming out... I'm guessing [hoping] that air's lodged in the ABS pump (!)
I'd feel more comfortable using a scanner to activate the ABS than have it running on axle stands o_O When you get the wrong side of 50 [like me] the mad stuff I used to do as a kid seems less appealling for some reason or other.
Does anyone know if the Snap On will activate the ABS ? The...
@JamesBryan I can't rule out air getting into the pump as the rear brake line running across the beam split and quite a bit of fluid leaked from it.
I did exactly as you said with the pressure bleeder but unfortunately I've ended up with a very soft pedal :( I can only assume air has gotten...
@SteveC_1879 Thanks for this. I think that's what it is. I've tried locking the wheels up several times on the test drive but don't I need to activate the pump while I'm bleeding the system ? I vaguely remember doing something like this on my E46 years ago when I bled the system but the Snap...
I've replaced the rear brake lines on my 182, bled the system with an air pump bleeder. I let fluid through until I had no air bubbles appearing at the caliper bleed nipples and clean fluid coming through. Buttoned everything up and took it for a test drive. The pedal is dangerously soft...
I've an oil leak from the selector shaft seal on the gearbox of my 182. I believe the part number is 8201048885 which I've ordered. I just wondered if anyone's had to replace their's and could give me any hints/tips ? Hope it's not a box out job ?
Huge thanks in advance.
I've a 2003 E46 325i MSport as well, that's also listed as compliant too. It must be a parameter that's within Euro 4 that's enabling it to be compliant, possibly the NOX as that's one of the main things that will affect air quality... which is what this whole ULEZ thing is about, 'apparently' !
Somebody on another forum said this "They may have just not updated it. My Cerbera showed up as compliant for about a month, now it doesn’t". Like your 182, mine has been coming up as compliant since the beginning but I believe there was a change to Euro 4 for petrol cars made in September...
The ULEZ zone is being extended to the M25 orbital in August 2023 and is set to affect a huge number of motorists. I have a specific question about 182 compliance.
Driving in the ULEZ zone is chargeable for any petrol engined vehicle that's not Euro 4 or later. The 182 is Euro 3. However if...
I used to race karts and cars going back almost 40 years now... so have never compromised on tyres myself. Personal experience/recommendations are far more useful than magazine reviews - hence the reason I posted here. Really appreciate what you've said here.
Guys thanks so much for everything here, I really appreciate it.
I agree, road tyres are subjective alright. There's price, durability and adhesion to weigh up.
I've never used Avons on the road before... but I would be willing to give them a go.
I've a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 3s fitted to my 182. They're great and I would like to replace them with either Pilot Sport 3 or 4 but can't seem to find availability anywhere. So my first question is, have they discontinued them in 205/45/16 form ? My second question is, what would you...
I'm in a similar situation to the above. Everything except for the plastic lenses is fine... but I guess they're a sealed unit ? Is it not possible to buy something like the link below and take the xenon bulbs etc... from my existing unit and swap over ? I know the balasts etc... are located...
