It was the injectors. I replaced all 4 with brand new and never had a problem again. BTW the injectors looked absolutely fine, sounded fine [click test] and hadn't thrown any ECU errors. As I couldn't diagnose which of the four had failed [without burning up more O2 sensors], I replaced all...
I have Torque Pro and it's excellent for what it does... however it only reads ECU data. I've four cars in total - my 182, an E46, a Golf V TSi and a Ford Focus Mk2. I would be really interested in getting another app that could read more than just ECU data - i.e. body, brakes...
Thank you so much for this guys, really appreciate this.
I'm going to measure up the distance between the strut bolts today to confirm whether I do actually have Cup suspension or not. I believe it's 60mm for a Cup strut, does anyone know what it is it for a standard one ?
@NBG182 Yes I...
I've a 2005 182 with [supposedly] the cup pack, but I've not measured up yet. I was considering fitting lowering springs as I've never liked the ride height of the Clio. I've a few questions :
o Is there a difference between stock non cup-pack and cup-pack springs ?
o Are coilovers worth...
I've a really silly question that hopefully somebody may be able to help with.
I took the engine out of the car around a year ago to do the belts, clutch and a whole heap of other things. I had the front off the car, including the bumper. It's taken me this long to realize my front fog...
Great vid ! Hopefully with my written procedure and your vid... anyone who encounters this problem in future will have some good stuff to get started with :)
This is purely for my own interest rather than solving a problem I have.
Like a lot of us on here my Clio 182 is old and has relatively limited recording facilities on its ECU... compared to a modern vehicle. Having watched a crash repair of 70 reg Range Rover on youTube [where all the air...
OK... just thought I'd follow up on where I got to with this in case anyone runs into similar trouble in the future.
This is happens when you've poor connectivity to, or in, the rear light clusters. It's a very common problem on Clio 2s. Remember that buying a replacement s/h light cluster...
I just weighed my own, broken, 2 tonne jack now... it's only 15Kg... 35Kg-40Kg is some weight to be hokin about in/out of the house alright. Think I need one of those aluminium NASCAR jacks :)
Which 3 tonne one did you get ? I've got my eye on this two tonne one. I also have an E46 that is very low [my current jack won't get under it] so that would hopefully solve that problem too. There's a 3 tonne cheaper though.
The seals in my 25 year 2-tonne old trolley jack have finally cried enough. Guess it's time to get a new one for the new year.
There are a few threads on here recommending trolley jacks, one being the Costco Arcan 2 ton, but that doesn't appear to be available from there any more... only...
Just want to revive this. I've something similar happening with my 182. The fog light indicator flickers on the dash when I apply the brakes. The rear brake lights illuminate fine when the brakes are pressed and the fog light at the rear doesn't appear to illuminate/flicker... just on the...
Well in essence, something is killing O2 sensors in my car. I opened another thread on it here. I suspect it may be a fuel injector but don't have unequivocal evidence of that. I'm trying to eliminate other things in the meantime. I noticed these figures here - which I felt weren't all that...
Interested to find out what the upper limit of the coolant and air intake temperatures should be on a Clio 182. I'm trying to home in on a problem with mine and just noticed that they were registering values of 99C for the coolant temperature and 66C for the air intake temperature after the car...
It's killed two brand new genuine Renault [Bosch] sensors and a Bosch OEM one all positioned upstream. I decided to try a Denso sensor downstream and it's survived there. I've now moved it upstream [as it's the only working sensor I have] until I get the new ones.
As I am right now, the current working Denso sensor positioned upstream is registering 0.4v when the ignition is on, but the engine's not running. This would indicate that the heater is getting power from the beginning. After starting [from cold] the voltage then moves to around about 0.9v...
I've not checked where the rev limiter's kicking in but it seems to be idling [when warm] around 750-850.
I'll need to get hold of a new multimeter and check the resistance on the injectors - the one I have at home here isn't good enough.
No smoke from the exhaust - there does seem to be...
Isn't there something you can do with scoping them - i.e. to see a trace profile of some sort. I'm not sure if I have the kit to do it though. Also, not sure how you can test for the things physically leaking.
Speaking of injectors, does anyone have opinions on what to use for replacements...
First off, thanks so much for this guys.
That's a good question. I honestly don't know. I didn't remap it and there's no evidence in the documentation that the previous owner did. Is there any way I can find out from looking at the live data parameters ?
This is my suspicion. Is there a...
I've just ordered another O2 sensor... this is the third one that the car's had in under a 1,000 miles of driving :( Something's not right.
The background.
-----------------------
The car is a 2005 Renault Clio 182 with 78,000 miles.
The car was throwing a P0130 error [upstream O2 sensor]...
I'm hopefully gonna get the chance to do the job next week... just wondering if you found out what size socket you used for this ? Thanks again for all your help here.
Yep that's how mine sounded before replacement. In fact it was whining from the moment you started the engine and never stopped. It got a lot worse when turning lock to lock. It doesn't do that now... there's just a whine on starting for about 30s and then it disappears.
