that diagnosis isnt totally unreasonable. My mate caught his exhaust on a speed bump and he had this aweful noise after that. I ended up changing the springs and realligning the exhaust - noise gone. The cost however - 117 quid sounds very expensive
yep if you let the fuel light come on thats when the pump works. tiny little pump looks a bit like a washer pump fastened near the little reserve tank.
the grease must have come from somewhere so probably a small hole/cut in the gaitors. gaitors are around £30 each then whatever labour the garage charge you probably at least 2 hours
thing with tdc sensors if the driver presses the throttle whilst starting if there is a tdc sensor fault the computer may not log in so wont show up on clip diag. It says it in the fault finding for the tdc sensor on the d4f
