Er.... coz I want to. People like to modify cars mate. Its not about fixing something thats broke. Whats the point in putting N2O on a Cup as your profile suggests? The engine works doesnt it?
I didnt write the post coz I wanted an arguement, I was just interested in who makes coilovers for a...
Its a Mk1 & I have had it lowered 30mm on H&R springs (standard dampers) and have got 17s with 205/40 Toyo rubber on them. But I want better handling still!!
If I were to buy front and rear strut braces would this make a difference?
I have been considering Coilovers but this is an expensive...
I have sent an email to Gaz - just found a price for H&R coilovers in POTN at £795 but it says for a Clio 172 B (2.0L 16V).
If this is for the Mk2 would the suspension set up be the same for a Mk1?
A question for BenR maybe? ;)
Ok, who makes them? I have been told that Bilstein and H&R do but i cant find any listings for any 172 on their websites
Is the suspension set up for a Mk1 172 the same as for a Mk2?
I am after some coilovers up to about £800ish but cant find anyone that makes them!!
I raced a 2.6 V6 (I know 2.6 sounds wierd but I swear that was what the badge said. I have seen a number of these too).
I was faster once we both got pulling on the straight. It would be difficult to catch up with one that tore past on a motorway though.
Try Elephant and put your Mum/Dad on the insurance as an additional driver (Trust Me) I put my Mum on the insurance and it came down from £1170 to £916
(and no she is not the policy holder!)
Dunno why this works but it does. Put my dad on too but then it went up again. Need to just out one...
Will try putting mu old 15s on but doubt that would make any difference surely? The extra width of 17s alone should allow for better grip than 15s?
Nice engine bay above- throttle bodies too!!!
It was quite funny! I met him at my mates mechanic shop and we both decided to go for a spin as it was a nice day and he rarely gets the Nova out. (Its a show car for his car stereo company http://www.LMCarAudion.co.ukwww.LMCarAudion.co.uk *free plug*)
We raced down many dual carriage ways...
Renault listened to my engine and reckoned there was nothing wrong. He said that he could here some belt noise but it was nothing to worry about.
I said the engine had been quieter before but he said that unfortunately due to the set up of the engine it wont stay quiet forever (as things wear...
Does it mean the engine is unhealthy? I hate the idea of that! - I dont rag it too bad but I expect a sports engine should be set up to get ragged, not to get loose and noisy!! Dunno.
Will post back when I find out
Simon172: What other wierd things has your car been doing? Did your fan belt...
My engine shudders every 3-4 seconds when ticking over. I am hoping it is just a belt or something as its not done many miles. Its going into Renault on Thurs to have my alarm checked too...Everything is going wrong
Any ideas as to the shudder. The engine sounds a bit noisier too. grumbly like...
Hey guys,
My Mk1 172 is an import from Germany. It has the standard Renault immobiliser and a Cobra Alarm - all factory fitted before I bought the car.
Its recently stopped working properly. I can set the alarm. Open the door manually (using the key), put the key in the ignition and start...
Ordered some new brakes on Friday! - My front nearside disc is warped anyway so needed replacement - bought Red Dot 6 groove discs and pads!
Only thing is, I need new pads for the rear. I have standard discs (which are fine at the mo) so cant have kevlar pads such as green stuff as they will...
Ok - guess what?
My Mk1 172 has no adjustable rear brake bias valve!! Even Renault thought it did until I told them the chassis number. It looks like some (and all Mk2s Id expect) have this valve and some dont.
I can buy a univeral bias valve and hav it fitted (dunno how much this would...
Unless you have had significant work to the engine it wouldnt be worth it: The torque curve falls off not far past 6500K anyway. You would just elongate the period of no pull
I actually really like the Ren19 vents if they are sunk in properly and are actually located near the induction kit. I was thinking about one for my 172 (eventually) but it might look over the top with a roof vent too
JJ172: Yeah but having to come off of the brakes to stop the car from wrapping up on itself is a bit dangerous!! If I had to brake because someone stopped suddenly infront of me I would end up crashing either way!!
Maybe this is why some lowering kits lower the rear less than the front? (like...
