Just get a remap mate, it's deffo worth it, you'll be pleasantly suprised.
And if remap isn't enough, there's allways a better intercooler which you could consider and a decat.
Don't let all these haters get you down, they obvously don't know/underestimate the dci's.
That being said, you should...
I bolted the original tensioners to my subframes, just drilled a 8mm hole and milled a slot (you'll see why when you take yours off).
M8 bolt trough, nut and locking nut on there and jobs a good'un
@Lee, thanks for the pic, perfect.
@Icarus, As i can see in Lee's pic, the balljoint could be taken off, so i'll just replace that with a normal rubber attachment, so it'll work on the same principle as normal suspention. Thus no worries about the whole thing rattling to bits
I'm quite the problem solver so adjusting the mounting points wont be such a problem, i'll figure something out anyway, thanks for letting me know the weak points though
The rears have a omp strutbrace on them atm, but i'm workin on a Y shaped strutbrace for the rear, to go with the omp one, so...
Would 182 cup racer rears bolt straight on to a Mk2 Ph2 172?
And what about the fronts, guess those not as they normallt arn't the same, or am i wrong?
Please enlighten me
Mines on 65K and never needs topping up, it's serviced every 7K miles, there allways comes as much out as they put back in, allways a nice light caramel couloured oil too, never that black worn stuff
^^ thanks mate
Anyways it's booked in for the aux belt to be changed aswell as the tensioner and pulleys. Think i'm going to have the cambelt replaced too.
The former owner had the both replaced 2 years ago, but i've never felt completly at ease, even though i have the invoice that proves it...
I also must ad that i've put a wee splash of WD40 on the belt and tensioner while it was running today and most of the squeeking is gone now.
still don't trust it though
Since a few days ago my aux belt started squeeking, at first it was only on startup, but now it's also when the engine is warm.
Normally it should be replaced in 7K miles;
Am i right thinking i should replace it now, no mather how many miles i'm of the service interval.
Also, should i replace...
Lol at that last pic, you're as "bad" as my family doc, he uses an Alpine A610 for towing
Especially love the Cobra with that hardtop, such lovly cars, not much cars around that keep looking cooler and cooler over the years and that don't look dated
holy cr*p, i would die in those temperatures
Past friday morning at 4.30 it was -22c° over here, and average temp for the first two weeks of janurairi was -4, thank god you can dress to cope with the cold, something you cant with excessive heat
LOL no mate that wasn't the problem.
Turns out a blob of powdercoat was hitting the ecu bracket, and because of that the bolt holes wouldn't line up with the bar itself.
All sorted now though.
cheers anyway guys
I am fitting omp strutbraces to my 02 172, the rear one went in without a prob, but the engine bay one doesnt want to fit properly.
It seems that the ecu bracket and another bracket a bit more to the front are in the way, so that the strutbrace won't sit totaly level on the strut tops.
I've...
I've told you allready mr topgear:), just go for the k-tec one, afterall it's just a piece of bent pipe.
On mine the k-tec one fitted like a glove, it has no welds apart from the ones at both ends for the flanges, and they make them for Ph1&2 so you cant go wrong.
They're lovly pieces of kit...
