Crankshaft pulley – Can’t get it loose!

Out of 3 fixed pulleys, only two would have to be free to "equalise tension". F7R is key'd on cams and crank....no issues there.

Crankshaft pulley – Can’t get it loose!

And yes, make a slide hammer puller to go on the m6, not m4, holes...dont pry it from behind as you'll crack the lip.

Crankshaft pulley – Can’t get it loose!

    What'll have to be machined?

What size bolts for mounting engine on engine stand....

m10 x 100mm should do it, to fasten to the bell housing face.

    Transmission loss

Its speed relative, so higher losses at higher rpm, so you cant specifically apply a fixed percentage for a true figure. However this is what alot of dyno manufacturers do...i guess because when you consider other quantifiable variations such as tyre deformation, strapping force etc etc, then...

Before and after results for my F7R

Unless the strain gauge was removed/replaced/wiring altered, then they dont need dead weight calibrating all to often.

Before and after results for my F7R

Its as direct as your going to get on a r/r.

Had the 172'd mk1 RR'd today... do these AFR figures look right?

may just be clutching at straws but you'd want to check fuel pressure on a full run ideally. easy on a r/r, not so easy on a dual carriageway :p

Had the 172'd mk1 RR'd today... do these AFR figures look right?

Just a thought, have you got a spare fuel pressure reg you could try?

Had the 172'd mk1 RR'd today... do these AFR figures look right?

Give it a full load run down the dual carriageway with the RSTuner logging... definately looks like an underlying fault.

DIY 172 Headwork, whos done it then?

Laine you have Very admirable enthusiasm, for thos alone I shall always love you! Time will tell, if it makes good power, then no problem. If it makes just normal power, again no problem---in any case you've enjoyed yourself and it's made you think, which is what's all about innit like bud.

    mk1 valver f7r megane engine swap ?

It takes quite a bit of work to get decent results out of it, definately more than work than is achievable on the average diy level...which is kinda what your post was implying.

    mk1 valver f7r megane engine swap ?

Just fitting the megane valves gives very little gain.

Remap+Matched Inlet. Need a bit of advice!

aroud 10bhp is a good enough guess, maybe a tad more. the main thing you'll notice is the increase in "eagerness" to pull from low revs. they really do "free" up the low down pull on these.

    72,000k + CAMS

They look very much cast to me. You can see the roughness on the non-machined areas. chill-cast cams are machined from a cast billet, not a drop-forged billet. Thats what they look like. There is nothing wrong with chill-cast cams at all. My concern was about "cheap chinese" cams, which...

    72,000k + CAMS

its not so much the balance I was specifically reffering to, more the quality of the casting in terms of materials used etc which lead to the overall longevity of the part. im sure they are fine, i was more just rationalising the price difference to myself outloud!

    72,000k + CAMS

Will be intresting to see how good the castings are. And explains the price difference between these and Catcams, which are billet. As for the work required, if you are capable and wouldnt find it too much trouble, id see it as an oppurtunity to whip the head of have the seats re-cut and...

Where to get big end bearings?

They are about £45-50 for big-ends, i'll confirm this when im back in work on tuesday. STandards are about £30. They are copper/lead/steel as opposed to ally/steel. They resist higher loadings due to the copper/lead element. They are fine for higher rpm and/or higher output from pressure...

    inlet tract on turbo cars

There are limits to everything, a longER tract will give more torque at lower rpm, shorter higher peak power and lower torque. This is the general trend. In my experience, if you apply this to most fwd cars though, where space is limited, you'll find the longer end of what you can fit is only...

    dci ticking from head

Check one of the injectors hasnt come loose....they can, and they pound the washer and end up tapping their arse off. Other thing which I had on my old Kangoo dci was one of the pistons had partially melted. Engine still ran fine, but tapped like a follower was down/worn cam. New piston was...
