Bit difficult to do a proper weld job while its in the car, personally I didn't find it that hard to take out and replace, would have taken an hour if I hadn't of kept forgettin to plug the speedo in before i assembled the dash!
Would you believe it they are now denying my claim because apparently it wasn't packaged properly... Despite the fact they shipped it with less packaging when it arrvied to me, and the fact that the packaging was strong enough to withstand being lifted by either end into the van!!
Oh and in...
If its a single click when you try and start it its your starter motor mate ;) either flick the key in the ignition or whack the starter motor! Hopefully its just a flat battery thou
Best bet is look out for 1.4s for breaking under the 'for sale' sections, you can pick one up quite cheap. If its the main hose renault will bend you over backwards for a new one.
Or visit a scrappy and pick one up cheap.
Yeah for £12+vat? You would get bearing+circlip+nut never heard of a bearing coming without them. God knows what they are trying to sell for £50 but if you need a new hub then it would be a good deal?
Couldn't get it in from the side there was a bar in the way absolutely no way to get the fat ass of the fan past it I tried everything! In the end had to take the rad out again and put it in that way!
Have you had a look at the fluid level for the power steering? When this gets low makes the power steering REALLY loud! If its topped up though and its still very stiff could be the PAS pump on the way out? Not sure on the squeeking though? First thing would be to check fluid level though if you...
3.4L you need to put in if its totally empty! If you don't thrash the car too much, just pop into halfords and pickup some castrol gearbox oil that should be fine, they have the list there so you know which one to pick!
Otherwise there are other gearbox oils out there which are dearer but...
Only problem I've found with spinning the wheel is that if its (the bearing), only just starting to go chances are you won't be able to hear it just by spinning it by hand!
Wheel bearing would make a humming noise if it was broken?
If its a wheel bearing the noise will stop when you go round a corner either left or right. If it stops when you're going round a right bend it means its the LEFT wheel bearing thats going as when you round the bend to the right all...
So took the fan + radiator out the valver yesterday... got the radiator back in but now I can't get the bloody fan back in!! Good old Haynes says "Simply pull the fan out and to refit push it back in and do up the screws" problem being there is hardly any room because of the inlet manifold :(...
Gearbox drain plug is near the radiator half way up the gearbox so don't worry about that!
Sump plug is facing the rear of the car on the back of the sump on the bottom of the engine obviously, need a square bit to remove it watch out though the oil will piss out so undo it very slowly so...
