I've managed to get hold of a lovely set of Leda's for the car. When i got them they had some standard renault top mounts attached to them. I got a garage to buzz off the top nut and remove these.
I'm left with this nut, then a spacer, then the spring top hat. On both struts I can't move this...
Had a nice run out to the Corbridge 'Fastlane' show today. Good enough excuse to give the car a run for the first time in over a month. Nice to see a few very clean Meganes and a few Clio's as well.
Sorted out my arch gap issue yesterday as well!
Rocking the iPhone effects!!
:D
Hi guy's, i've had an Odessey 680 race battery and suitable mount in the garage for ages (along with wiring, fuses, cut out switch etc etc) that i've never got round to fitting. I looked the other day at options of where to fit the new battery and am struggling to find the most suitable place...
Had a good day on Saturday, found a lot out about the car as well. I've been sent a few pics (thanks everyone) so thought i'd put a few up online.
The morning started off wet so it was on the road wheels (white). When it warmed up over lunch I swapped to 888's (red wheels)...
Car seems to be going fine now but when it settles down to idle sometimes it's fine, sometimes it settles at 2k rpm and then hunts for steady revs. If I blip it it then settles. Any ideas?
The car got its first run out for a year yesterday and the first time since the rebuild. 20 mile drive to the garage where the cage was installed and it ran fine. I obvious didn't thrash it but all felt good. Bit of a chin wag and 2 hrs later we drove the 5 miles to the mot place. Noticed on the...
I've asked a couple of people this and got conflicting answers, so thought i'd open it up for more!
I purchased a secondhand set of AST Top Mounts that came with all these bits:
I've mock put them onto the coilovers with a KW tophat that i've got hold of:
Should there be a bearing between...
I'm fixing up a damaged Cup spoiler back to former glory and painting it Trophy red. I've bought grey primer, red paint and clear lacquer. I've done base coats and the paint layer (last coat went on about 3pm yesterday).
To achieve the best results do i take advice from someone that said that...
Wondering if anyone can help?
I've had a Samsung S2 320gb thing for about 18 months. It sat in the car for a month and went to plug it in the other day. The blue light on the drive illuminates and then nothing happens, but I can hear it spinning away. The drive doesn't appear in the My Computer...
As above. I think the seal should go flush against the face of the head/rocker cover before fitting the dephaser pulley, has anybody got a picture of it all? I don't want to screw it up a second time as it's been an expensive mistake this. :dapprove:
..assuming the exhaust seal sits flush as well?
Hi chaps,
Can anyone confirm the size of C spanner i need to adjust Vmaxx coilovers? I bought a set second hand that didn't have any. I'm 300 miles from the suspension this week so can't go and measure it!
Cheers
Jon
Well sort of. Engine is rebuilt and put back in, all connected up etc. I've got a tub of bolts left over but I'm gambling they've come off the other engine, lol.
What's bugging me are these three things:
First up, what the hell is this!
It's the small metal pipe thing on the bottom...
Guys was hoping to fit cambelt tonight, was waiting on lower idler spacer from someone but gave up waiting so ordered one from Reno. I ordered a ph2 part.
Is this part right?
.
This is what I currently have :
I believe this is a ph1 spacer right?
Is that all correct? I've...
Hi chaps.
I'm about to order the cambelt kit for the engine we are rebuilding. It's a 172 Cup bottom end with a Ph1 (2000) top end. I've been advised that I need to order the ph2 kit as the differences are relating to an idler pulley on the bottom end. The dilemma I have is that we've used...

I'm guessing they shouldn't rattle like that?
Anywhere apart from Reno sell them?
Test built up the bottom end before doing it properly this week and noticed this.
Thanks
Hi guy's, is this info correct?
Main bearings: Stage 1 (20nm), stage 2 (62 degrees +/- 4 degrees)
Big Ends: Stage 1 (20nm), stage 2 (40 degrees exactly).
Are replacement bolts essential, or can I get away with the old ones?
Hi guy's, here's tonight's question!
The head is off the engine and we're trying to remove the block in the most economical way. We've loosened all the bellhousing bolts and started prising it apart.
We can get it this far before running out of room:
What is the best way to proceed?
1...
I'm on the verge of buying the bloody things, but just wondered if anyone with a set fancies earning a few quid and letting me hire some, or even borrow?
I'll love you loads!
Guy's what is this sealant round main bearing no.1?
Is it just a sealant or is there a reno part?
Also would you re-use these:
They don't look too bad to me, but there is the odd mark, nothing major. Big end bearings are as clean as a whistle.
Cheers
Howdy.
I've purchased a MK1 172 thats got a dodgy bottom end. The head was rebuilt last year, so that's all fine. I've sourced a 172 Cup bottom end which was apparently running fine when removed from an accident damaged car last year.
The plan is to strip down both bottom ends (the Cup one...
So having been without a Clio for about 5 days I thought it best to buy another. They are, as those who have driven one, quite addictive. This was crazy idea number one.
The second crazy idea is I am definitely definitely definitely building this to a budget, a small one.
I now live in...
Gave the new car a clean - finally, after 2k and 5 weeks - so thought i'd take a pic or two. I absolutely love it, it's perfect on the motorway and is averaging 55mpg, i'm smitten.
It's had the dreaded swirl flaps removed, had a recent Inspection 2 and I've spent a few quid getting a few...
