fair enough. due to the number of lacquer coats i give them ive found i cant use anything other than super resin for some time otherwise it leaves quite nasty swirl marks which im not a massive fan of. to be fair, i doubt once any of my bits leave here that anybody has been arsed to actually...
i smooth my own stuff out afterwards, but most people dont want to wait the extra 2-3 weeks whilst its curing (i also dont have the room for them all). so i get it as smooth as i can and send them out.
really happy with the colour match on teh badges look pretty mint, cant even see where you'd scoured round the letters with sandpaper on those pics ;)
as for the engine cover the decals will just peel off as i waxed it before fitting them. Wasnt overly sure myself, looked better on paper than...
on the previous page mate lol.
If anyone wants anything doing pm me with what colours your want and what you want doing, as with everything its based on the individual
i plan on debadging mine, but only when ive saved enough for another neat touch out the back ;)
you've gotta remember that if your removing all the badges you'll probably need the holes welded and the panel resprayed. on the ph2 only the 'clio' should be drilled, but on my ph1 they're all drilled
was just about to put you should paint it before you wrap it to stop it corroding before fmp stole my thunder lol. should only be about £10-20 for a couple of tins of high temp paint.
I use BMW alpine white, as it has a nice bluish tinge, and as for racing blue i generally use autopaint.co.uk at st helens (especially as it'll have to match your racing blue paint work). Halfords are very hit and miss, i'll only use them if its not gotta match anything lol
very little, as a rule i charge cost of paint plus postage plus a tenner if its an engine cover (bit more if its gotta be done in 2 colours), and generally a fiverish for badges/inserts. depends on an individual basis. For the silver and black badges you can see i'd charge 15 quid posted for...
viper with custom stainless feed with samco elbow, sports cat and custom made stealth exhaust. sounded mint but still went like a tortoise lol. considered cams/remap but really aint worth it, especially whe you can pick up a ph1 172 for 3.5 grand now
yep no probs taylor just send me a little note with them reminding me what you want ;)
As for the shitty grab handles i'll have to have a little think about it and get back to you as they are a total and utter arse to get right and i literally have the scrape the shitty stuff off with my...
again though, dont know whether its really worth the effort even without the cost. If you've got some spare time on your hands and like dabbling around in engine bays, it'd be interesting to see what happens, but otherwise wouldnt bother. Best having a word with edde he'll tell you the ins and outs
i'm actually really impressed i got the flame red touch up mixed at halfords and actually looks pretty spot on! especially as i had to guess the paint code lol.
