Bit of a big thing for me, got £250 for Christmas and it's all going on a lens as I would never normally have anywhere near that kind of money to spend on photography.
I love my Nikon 50mm 1.8 for portraits etc, my Sigma 70-300 is fantastic for motorsport (a true surprise at £100) and...
Last night around 7:15pm, followed you all the way from Trowbridge to Bath, however I was in a new Vectra SRi so you wouldn't have noticed me!
Car was sounding nice anyhow.
I've heard several stories now that at the last minute Argos have had their allocation changed and won't be delivering Wii's to those that were guaranteed a Wii on the 8th when they ordered. Unfortunately for them they were quite vocal about guaranteeing people a delivered Wii on launch day...
For those that got shafted by Play, those nice folk at Argos are still accepting pre-orders for December 8th.
I emailed them to confirm this and got the following reply...
"Thank you for your e-mail regarding the Nintendo Wii console,
We are accepting orders for the pre order console...
Sony continue to make friends in Europe...
"As of yesterday morning, no auctions for PS3 units or games will be allowed on the site until February 2007 - which is when pre-orders will open in Europe.
Even then, each seller will only be able to offer one PS3, and it must have been...
Does anyone know the best path to take to buy this?
What I've figured so far:
Full Boxed Version = £500
Upgrade from Photoshop Elements = £430
Upgrade from Photoshop CS, Photoshop 7.0 or earlier = £145
I only have Elements at the moment so it's going to be £430 as it stands. I'm...
Wooo hooo, not long now. Great volume of launch titles, especially if you think back and compare it to the DS launch, Zelda and Rayman are high on my priority list (check out the Rayman vids on YouTube, superb!)....
In-Store Titles - on December 8th
Wii Sports: Baseball, Tennis, Golf...
Can anyone post some links to full size shots from a DSLR (motorsport is the preference) and let me know what lens they are using? I'm really interested in what the more expensive quality optics can do. If full size is a problem just some 100% crops of a smaller area would be cool. Static shots...
Picked up a Sigma 70-300mm f4-5.6 this week for the pricely sum of 90 pounds! Obviously a very cheap lens but I am really really pleased with the shots I got today at Castle Combe. God knows what this Nikon D50 can do with some real quality optics attached to it.
Is it me or did this come out of nowhere?

Nov 24th release.
Can I just say a big thanks to all of those who pestered me to get a DSLR even though it might one day bankrupt me (Rich, BluePete etc)
As much as I loved my FZ20 and accept that there are shots that I simply won't be able to afford to get anymore (I had 600mm to play with at RAF Fairford...
I was told not to bother, but I had ago anyway. I'm talking about my Nikon D50, which I took along to Castle Combe today for the always thrilling Formula Ford Carnival, the reason I was told not to bother with the camera is that until next year I've only got the 18-55mm kit lens, absolutely...
It never really occurred to me until today, but thinking back my Clio ownership days have been amazing...
1999-2003 - 1996 Clio 1.2 RN
My first car, bought on 66,000 miles and driven every day, finally sold it on 105,000 miles. Serviced and MOT'd every year and absolutely fine every time...
Dug out some pictures of the Cup to include in the adverts for my car. So pretty...makes me sadder by the minute knowing she is actually going soon. Is it wrong to feel that attached to a heap of metal and plastic?! I wouldn't mind so much if it had annoyed the hell out of me but (touch wood)...
Right, FZ20 has actually gone now. I need a lens for around £150 fairly rapidly, and it must be a Nikon AF fitment.
It is for the winter months so much not motorsport to worry about, will just be for landscapes and possibly a holiday, macro capabilities would be a very welcome bonus.
Not...
I moved to Orange recently and the coverage both at my work (a College of all places, you would expect them to cover a place like that) and the partners place is absolutely non-existent. As 95% of my waking life is spent at those two places it's really causing me problems.
Is there grounds...
Nice relaxing day at Castle Combe today, great weather too. Some seriously powerful FWD cars flying around the track, especially some of the Novas and Golfs which were going past just about everything (including a Noble!)
Must get a Cliosport stand there next year, if the ever-growing success...
Any game, any scores, I need some targets to aim for!

Such a gorgeous car to photograph so I did just that on Sunday. The 'spirited' driving helped too, lots of sideways action...I want one!
A few more here.
and a bit of a slide...
Packed day at Combe on Monday, 10 races, biggest crowd of the year...and the quickest-maddest 4 wheel vehicles I've ever seen on track...
And here are the quick ones, couldn't believe the commitment and bravery of these nutters. Flat out over Avon Rise and...
Tiff Needell was down at Castle Combe last week filming a forthcoming feature for Fifth Gear. He was test driving the 197 for the show, as part of the feature he was running Williams 001 on the Castle Combe circuit.
Certainly one to watch out for and sure to generate lots of discussion when...
Ok, a bit of an odd thing to get excited about, but easily the best £20 I've spent on photography equipment ever.
Hama 62mm Circular Polarizer, not even a great polarizer (didn't want to spend too much as getting a new camera soon) but did the exact job I wanted it to do. Removed the sheen...
Not too many this time (every time I looked at a car to take a pic I spent a further 2 minutes cleaning my eyes out, got 300 pics instead of the usual 700+) so they are all in one album here. As usual the red cars have the most pics because they are much easier to photograph, so lots of...
R10 CUP I think, spotted in Taunton about 4:45pm this afternoon, probably couldn't have missed us as we were in a Ph1 172 / 172 Cup / 1.8 16V / Williams convoy! Then a Naples Valver motoring on the A303 about 5:30pm.
That was then followed up by two Evos (8 I think) on the A36 Warminster...
