+1 on the RSTuner :). I've kept mine for error codes etc. Yes it's a shame about the licensing needed to switch between cars (I'd have done the 200 with it too otherwise), but I guess it's just them wanting to make some money on second hand sales.
Also, in theory you'll soon be able to give...
Bump. Anyone ever compared the 16" five spoke 172 wheels with 16” 8-spoke Anthracite wheels from a 182 Cup-pack?
I've got a spare set of the 8-spoke Anthracite Cup wheels wheels in the Garage I could measure, but haven't got any five spoke 172 wheels to compare with.
To save me measuring, I wonder if anyone here knows...
For a specific brake setup I've been told that the 16" five spoke 172 wheels need 10mm wheel spacers. What would the 16” 8-spoke Anthracite wheels from a 182 Cup-pack would need?
I'm going to guess they'd be pretty much the same...
Oh and...
Be interested to hear how you get on GodSpeed & martin182 :).
Unless the pistons of BIGASH's Aclons use way more fluid than any of the other 4pots people use, I'd be tempted to say he was just unlucky... Surely there must be others still running with ABS/ESP without switching to the 172 Cup setup?
Nothing wrong with that... By my maths the PMS kit is £8 cheaper than the Renault parts, and the PMS kit includes correct brake hoses :).
But yeah, the cost of those discs is probably the main downside of this setup if you go through them quickly!
Just been re-reading through this thread. So these discs, I take it they are the same as those supplied in the Pure Motorsport kit... and basically the PMS kit it the same as this, but uses normal 197 Brembo's instead of the special R2 ones (whatever the difference is) and brackets to suit, and...
Thanks all. Wonder where the myth of "You must change the master cylinder otherwise instant death" came from then!
Oh... Not heard that one before, other than people getting air in the ABS and needing to clear it out with RS-Tuner/Clip. What was up with it?
Ignoring all the threads about "Standard callipers are fine", "Wilwoods bend", "I wish I could afford APs"... lets just say you've got 4pots and they're AP/Brembo/Compbrake/HiSpec/Wilwood/whatever.
I've seen comments a few times about pedal travel being rubbish & needing different master...
Given how many muppets there normally are at these days sticking their car (and someone else's car in this case!) into the barriers, I'm surprised there's no photos or video of the crash around online yet.
What's with the airbags not going off? Given the damage I'd have expected them to go...
V-Power Nitro+ launched on 18th April, but actually people had it in their tanks for a little while already without knowing. Shouldn’t notice any difference as the nitro word refers to nitrogen containing components which are for cleanliness rather than any extra performance.
I paid 140.9 for...
Ouch! At least it's only mental bent and not people though.
Was it one of Combe's own Action Days today? Loads of people I know don't bother with them these days and call them crazy days - just stick to properly organised track days instead. Combe's Action Days have too many cars out at once...
FYI anyone doing the math and doesn't want to search: The 16" Turinis on the 172 Cup are ET38.5. The 16" Turinis on the 182 Trophy are ET45 (same as the 16" 182 Cup Anthracite wheel). So the Cup Turinis are like running an 8mm spacer on the Trophy Turinis. All are the same 7Jx16 size.
Interesting thread is interesting!
Trying to remember how much Noos used to want for those brackets he did for the Megane 225 Brembos with 300mm discs. That was a good bit more IIRC wasn't it?
What are these older 406 Brembos like compared with newer ones on 225/197 etc?
LOL at this thread. Basically if you've got a lot of speed to lose, or a lot of weight to slow down, you want bigger brakes. For physics reasons, bigger = better.
Oh and LOL at the Combe analogies, it's great fun up there being last of late brakers and ****ing off all the Cossy/Evo/Scooby...
Got the CAL open in hexedit... first 16bytes say RSTUNERENCRYPTED lol :p :D.
I just saw this on Henk's website: RSTuner Suite - RSTuner Suite is PC based software that enables you to make changes to the ECU maps (self-tuning).
Might drop him an email sometime.
That's what he did with me. Think he'd had some muppets upload the wrong file to their ECU, and then coming moaning to him when they'd bricked it, so now he's being careful.
Whilst we're on about mapping with the RS Tuner... what calibration software can be used to create and output a map that...
